Avenue Z is looking for a Public Relations Associate with experience in or a strong understanding of finance and asset management. In this role, you’ll support and execute communications strategies for a client portfolio that includes asset managers, financial services firms, and fintech companies. You’ll work across media relations, content creation, reporting, and strategic planning to elevate our clients’ visibility in business and financial media.

Responsibilities

Client Communications & Execution

• Manage day-to-day public relations activities for finance-focused clients, ensuring strategies align with market trends and business goals.
• Execute integrated campaigns across earned media, digital platforms, and thought leadership opportunities.
• Develop messaging tailored to the nuances of the financial landscape, including investor relations, market commentary, and regulatory awareness.

Media Relations

• Cultivate relationships with financial and business media, including reporters at Bloomberg, CNBC, The Wall Street Journal, and industry trades.
• Secure media placements that position clients as credible voices in investment strategy, economic outlook, and asset class insights.
• Monitor market movements and media cycles to identify opportunities for timely commentary and visibility.

Content Development

• Draft and edit press releases, bylined articles, media pitches, Q&As, and talking points focused on financial topics.
• Translate complex financial information into accessible, compelling stories for both institutional and retail audiences.
• Ensure all content reflects the client’s tone and positioning while maintaining clarity and accuracy.

Strategic & Analytical Support

• Contribute to strategic planning by identifying media opportunities, audience trends, and competitive positioning in financial communications.
• Assist in compiling performance reports that include media analytics, SOV benchmarking, and ROI insights.
• Provide briefing materials for executive interviews, panel appearances, and press events.

Team Collaboration & Project Management

• Work cross-functionally with internal teams—creative, strategy, and analytics—to support integrated campaigns.
• Juggle multiple client timelines, priorities, and deadlines with strong organizational skills.
• Participate in internal brainstorms and client calls, offering relevant insights and taking detailed follow-up notes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Finance, or a related field.
• 2–3 years of PR experience, ideally working with finance, asset management, or professional services clients.
• Excellent writing and storytelling skills, particularly in financial topics and business language.
• Strong media relations skills and a working knowledge of the financial press landscape.
• Detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Familiarity with PR tools and platforms like Muck Rack, Cision, Meltwater, or similar.
