Senior Application Engineer/Technology Specialist

Job Summary

The Center of Expertise Separation team at Tetra Pak is strengthening its capabilities and is now seeking a Senior Application Specialist/Technology Specialist with deep technical expertise in centrifugal separation technologies and process applications.

In this role, you will be the subject matter expert within Tetra Pak, driving application excellence across global customer engagements and internal development initiatives. You will play a key role in translating complex process, microbiological, and operational data into actionable insights, supporting both commercial success and technology development.

You will collaborate closely with sales, R&D, and customers worldwide, contributing with advanced knowledge in centrifugal separation, microbiology, and process optimization. The position is based in Lund, Sweden, and involves international collaboration and travel up to 25%.

What you will do

As a Senior Application Specialist, you will take a leading role within a highly skilled team of application and technical experts. Your responsibilities will include:

• Drive application expertise within centrifugal separation, including process performance, microbiological impact, and product quality


• Participate/lead performance evaluations and optimization initiatives at customer sites, ensuring robust, data-driven conclusions


• Collect, structure, and interpret complex application and process data, transforming it into clear recommendations and guidelines


• Integrate microbiological knowledge into separation applications, ensuring food safety, product integrity, and regulatory compliance


• Provide senior-level technical support to the sales organization, acting as a trusted advisor in customer discussions


• Drive troubleshooting and root cause analysis in critical customer cases


• Develop and validate application guidelines, models, and best practices based on operational and experimental data


• Contribute as an expert in development and innovation projects, influencing future separation technologies and solutions


• Lead knowledge transfer activities, including training, mentoring, and development of internal capabilities


• Collaborate globally with stakeholders across product development, service, and commercial functions

We believe you have

• A Master’s or PhD degree in Food Engineering, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Microbiology, or a related field


• Several years of relevant experience (typically 5+ years) within separation technologies, food processing, or related industries


• Strong expertise in centrifugal separation, process engineering, and/or microbiological aspects of food production


• Proven ability to handle, analyze, and interpret large and complex datasets, ideally with experience in application modelling or digital tools


• Solid understanding of process performance, hygiene design, and food safety considerations


• Experience in customer-facing roles, technical consulting, or cross-functional projects


• Excellent communication skills in English (written and spoken)
