Senior Main Inspector (Huvudbesiktningsman) – Industrial Construction Project, Sweden

We are seeking an experienced Senior Main Inspector (Huvudbesiktningsman) to lead inspections for a major industrial construction project in Sweden. The role ensures all works are executed according to approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards, and in compliance with AB 04 / ABT 06 contractual requirements. The Main Inspector will plan, coordinate, and execute inspections independently while collaborating with contractors, quality teams, and project management. 

Estimated Time Commitment : at least 24 months

Key Responsibilities

• Be formally appointed as Main Inspector (Huvudbesiktningsman) for the project.

• Plan, coordinate, and perform inspections according to AB 04 / ABT 06 and the project’s inspection schedule.

• Lead inspection activities together with contractors, Sub-Inspectors, and the project team.

• Conduct all inspection types, including pre-inspections, final inspections, follow-up inspections, warranty inspections, and re-inspections.

• Ensure compliance of works with approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, and contract requirements.

• Maintain independence and impartiality in all assessments.

• Document inspection results through formal protocols, deficiency lists, and follow-up reports until closure.

• Provide a final summary report upon project completion.

• Communicate inspection plans, findings, and non-conformities promptly with the project management team.

Required

• Proven experience as Huvudbesiktningsman for industrial or large-scale construction projects in Sweden.

• Comprehensive knowledge of AB 04 / ABT 06 and Swedish construction law.

• Necessary professional certification to act as Main Inspector.

• Technical background in civil, mechanical, electrical, or related engineering discipline.

• Strong communication skills in Swedish and English.

• Ability to work independently and manage complex inspection processes.

Nice to Have

• Experience with multi-contractor industrial projects.

• Familiarity with quality management and commissioning procedures.

Additional Information

Reporting Line & Context

Reports to the Senior Construction Manager and coordinates closely with construction, commissioning, QA/QC, and contractor teams.

Team & Interfaces

Leads inspection activities, collaborating with contractors, Sub-Inspectors, quality teams, and project management.

Deliverables & Success Metrics

• Overall inspection plan and detailed resource allocation.

• Formal inspection protocols (Besiktningsutlåtanden) in accordance with AB/ABT requirements.

• Deficiency lists and follow-up documentation until closure.

• Final summary report upon completion of all inspections.

Tools & Work Environment

The role requires knowledge of inspection processes, document management systems, and reporting tools commonly used in industrial construction. The position is site-based in Sweden and provides a key independent role to ensure project quality, safety, and compliance.
