About the Role:

As a Senior Platform Developer with a strong focus on Kafka, you will join a highly experienced team responsible for operating, maintaining, and evolving a critical event-streaming platform within a banking/fintech environment. The role centers on managing an existing on-prem Kafka cluster while leading its migration to Confluent Cloud. This long-term assignment sits within IT Infrastructure & Operations, where high availability, stability, scalability, and performance are business-critical.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate, maintain, and further develop the existing on-prem Kafka platform

• Plan, execute, and support the migration from on-prem Kafka to Confluent Cloud

• Ensure high availability, robustness, scalability, and performance of the Kafka ecosystem

• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize Kafka clusters and data pipelines

• Collaborate closely with development, infrastructure, and operations teams

• Contribute both hands-on and strategically to platform improvements and future architecture

Requirements:

• Many years of hands-on experience with Apache Kafka, including both operations and development

• Proven experience with cloud migration, preferably from on-prem environments to Confluent Cloud

• Strong understanding of distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and data streaming pipelines

• Solid background in Java development, ideally within fintech or other regulated environments

• Experience working in complex, high-availability production environments

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and containerized platforms such as Kubernetes is meriting

• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a senior, cross-functional team

• Full professional proficiency in Swedish

• Availability to work on-site in Stockholm 2–3 days per week
