Do you want to help shape the future of treatments for CNS diseases?



BioArctic is now recruiting a Senior or Principal Scientist in oligonucleotide therapeutics who will combine cutting-edge research with hands-on laboratory work to drive the development of novel therapeutic strategies that can change lives.

The Role

As being part of our in-house initiative in oligonucleotide therapeutics, you will play a key role in implementing and establishing this important area for BioArctic. You will perform hands-on laboratory research, contribute to initiate early drug discovery, and collaborate closely with colleagues working on biotherapeutics and our BrainTransporter™ technology. Upon joining, you will immediately be involved in already ongoing discovery projects based on novel concepts.

Some of your responsibilities will include:




  • Design and analysis of antisense oligonucleotides (ASOs) and siRNAs using bioinformatics tools



  • Linker, peptide conjugation chemistry, ASO-antibody conjugation strategies and detailed characterizations



  • A variety of in vitro studies in cell-based systems



  • Gene expression analysis using PCR and qPCR



  • Participation in cross-functional project teams and concept development.

The position is open-ended, full-time, with BioArctic as employer

Location: BioArctic headquarters, Kungsholmen, Stockholm. On-site presence is required, at least 3 days a week.

Who are you?

You are a driven researcher with a deep understanding of gene knock-down biology using e.g. oligonucleotide technologies and how they can be developed into treatment of neurological diseases. You thrive in the lab but also in strategic discussions and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Required qualifications:




  • Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, or related field



  • Experience in coupling chemistry, particularly with antibody-drug conjugates. ASO-antibody conjugates experience is especially meriting.



  • Experience of oligonucleotide design and analysis using bioinformatic tools



  • Experience of studying antisense oligonucleotides (ASO) in cell systems



  • Expertise in techniques such as PCR and qPCR for gene expression analysis



  • Strong understanding of the biology of antisense oligonucleotides and siRNA technologies.
