Job Description - Sous Chef - Nordic Light Hotel

We are seeking a talented and dynamic Sous Chef to join our team at Nordic Light Hotel. As a Sous Chef, you will have the unique opportunity to oversee and elevate the culinary offerings at our distinct property, ensuring memorable experiences for our guests.

Nordic Light Hotel, a perfectly situated and truly unique design hotel in the heart of Stockholm. No matter what your business here might be, everything is within close reach: the central station, waterfront strolling, the Old Town, shopping, museums and restaurants. 

We have carefully appointed hotel rooms, a beautiful new Nordic restaurant and bar called Lykke, a fully equipped gym facility and 15 conference rooms. Above all, we have the ambience. Designer John Tong and architect Todd Saunders have, with the help of 10 selected Nordic designers, actualized their interpretation of the Nordic region. Its culture, its values, its shapes and forms. Here the Nordic design, flavors and tranquility are in every inch of every room, with your comfort in absolute focus. 

The sous chef at Nordic Light Hotel works alongside F&B Manager to manage daily kitchen activities, including overseeing staff, aiding with menu preparation, ensuring food quality and freshness, and monitoring ordering and stocking. As a Sous Chef you provide meal quality and consistency by creating and following designated recipes.You are an creative team player with leadership skills who thrives in a high-pace kitchen operation making exceptional food. Overview: We are looking for a Sous Chef to Nordic Light Hotel The position is a full-time position. Working hours will vary from week to week. The successful candidate will be part of building up our food and beverage experience and part of an exciting new team. The main responsibilities are:
  • Leads the kitchen team
  • Together with F&B Manager creative lead for Lykkes food offerings
  • Together with F&B Manager responsible for planning and directing food preparation in our kitchens
  • Together with F&B Manager the Sous Chef will help with planning, inventory and managing of supplies
  • As assistant to the F&B Manager aid in making sure the kitchen is up to safety standards and that staff are obeying sanitation rules according to Swedish rules and regulations
  • Directing the food preparation process and delegating tasks
  • Scheduling and staff planning, daily work in one of the stations (hot, cold) and be able to properly prepare for service and keep the required production pace 
  • Control consistency of food production in terms of quality during service
  • Keep the standards in regards to performance of duties, appearance, time keeping
  • Follow the health and safety regulations set by the hotel
  • Daily control of received stock
  • Wastage management
  • Perform monthly inventories when required
  • In addition:
  • You have experience working in similar position
  • You enjoy structure and have good organizational skills
  • You have a formal culinary training or relevant work experience
  • You enjoy the busy services and thrive in high-pace environments
  • Ambitious and interested in working in a high-pace environment with great standards
  • Out-going personality who has an easy way communicating with colleagues and high energy
  • You take responsibility for your own work and can be trusted to work alone
  • High professional ethics
  • A genuine love for food
  • Able to fluently communicate verbally in Swedish and/or English
