About the role
We are looking for curious and motivated Master’s students who want hands‑on experience working with modern wireless technologies.
This summer project focuses on building a diagnostic tool that can connect to a wireless mesh network, collect data, and show it in a clear, visual way. You’ll work with both small hardware devices and a simple web‑based interface, giving you experience across hardware, software, and visualization.
What you will do
Work with wireless devices:
Use a USB "radio dongle" to connect to a wireless mesh network.
Listen to traffic within the network, using the dongle.
Collect, store and visualise useful data from those packets.
Create a diagnostic tool:
Receive data from the dongle via USB (connected to a phone or computer).
Store the collected data in a simple, readable format.
Build a visual web app:
Develop a web‑style interface to show:
Network activity
Which nodes are communicating
How the network changes over time
Works on both phone and PC.
Who we’re looking for
Students pursuing a Master’s degree in:
Embedded Systems
Software Engineering
Electrical Engineering
Physics Engineering
Computer Engineering
Or similar technical fields
Basic knowledge and interest in:
Python
React
Embedded C
Data communication
No prior experience with the specific hardware is needed, just interest and a willingness to learn.
