About the role
The Community Transportation Van Driver will be responsible for providing transportation services for the people supported in Opportunities, Inc.’s services. This role will be responsible for ensuring the safe transport of people from their homes to Opportunities, Inc.’s facilities in the mornings, and then back home in the afternoon. Routes, and pickup times, are developed by the Program Team and provided regularly to the Drivers.
What you'll do
- Provide transportation, via company vehicles, to people supported by Opportunities, Inc. Community Van Driver must have a current Driver’s License and meet the agency’s driving requirements.
- Driver must maintain a clean and safe vehicle. All maintenance problems must be reported, immediately, to the Operations Manager.
- Transport people in service to and from Opportunities, Inc. facilities safely, ensuring that any issues while on the vehicle are reported.
- Maintain van appearance to be clean and ready to operate, full of gas.
- Ensure the Company vehicle is regularly maintained to meet safe operating standards through conducting regular inspections of the assigned vehicle.
- Strictly follow and abide by all local and state driving laws to include always wearing a seat belt, not using a handheld device while driving, abiding by all local speed limits and traffic laws, etc.
- Complete all state and agency required documentation in accordance with stated guidelines and deadlines, ensuring submission to proper personnel and communicating delays in ability to meet deadlines as soon as possible.
- Maintains positive, professional, working relationships, treating people in services with respect and dignity and communicating matters of importance to families, residential staff, Opportunities, Inc. staff, etc.
- Driver will ensure completion of all required training ensuring that all aspects of job tasks are known and carried out.
- Immediately report any, and all, driving accidents, mishaps, violations, citations, tickets, etc. to the direct supervisor, and operations manager.
- Attend and actively participate in all scheduled meetings.
- Ensure the accurate recording of all time worked within agency systems, and properly notifying supervisor of any needed time off.
- Communicate with passengers, parents, and providers when there will be transportation changes or closures via phone contact.
- All other duties that may be requested by the direct supervisor, Operations manager, the Director of Programs, Chief Operating Officer, or Chief Executive Officer.

Qualifications
- Must be 21 years of age
- High School Diploma or GED required
- A valid driver's license, a clean driving record, reliable transportation, and be willing to drive company vehicles
- At least 1 year of driving experience
- Ability to lift at least 50lbsa
