We offer great opportunities where our staff is rewarded for hard work, enthusiasm, initiative, and sense of responsibility. nAs a key member of the US Human Resources Team, the Director of Human Resources – Viking Mississippi will plan, lead, direct, develop, and coordinate the policies, activities, and staff of the Viking Mississippi Human Resource (HR) efforts ensuring legal compliance, effectiveness and efficient. nThis position will be based in our New Orleans, LA office, will be on a hybrid work schedule (3 days in office/2 remote) and requires overnight travel (30%) nResponsibilities nn Along with HR management team and Mississippi leadership team - plans, leads, develops, coordinates, and implements policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support the organization’s human resource compliance and strategy needs.; nAdminister or oversee human resource programs, of the Mississippi onboard crew and staff including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, and leave.; nManage disciplinary matters, disputes, investigations, performance, and talent management.; nAlong with HR management team, manage recognition, engagement, training and development, occupational health and safety.; nEnsure Human Resources programs and initiatives are effective, efficient, and aligned with overall business objectives.; nAdminister or oversee payroll, ensuring accurate and timely processing and nationwide compliance.; nMonitor and ensure the organization’s compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance.; nMaintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and innovative technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to management.; nFacilitate professional development, training, and certification activities for staff.; nWork closely with onboard HR Manager and onboard leadership team on all activities listed above and other duties as needed; nPerform other duties as required.; n nSupervisory Responsibilities nnRecruit, interview, and train Mississippi HR team members.; nOversee the daily workflow of the Mississippi HR team, specifically onboarding, payroll, leave management, Maintenance and Cure case management, and employee relations for crew members of the Viking Mississippi.; nHandle discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.; n nQualifications nnStrong knowledge of employment laws and a strong understanding of current employment regulations and compliance issues.; nKnowledge of and ability to apply management principles and techniques.; nExceptional interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills.; nAbility to develop and maintain highly effective relationships, externally and internally.; nAbility to influence professionals of senior and executive management level.; nAbility to adapt to the needs of the employees and organization.; nSolid sense of confidentiality and discretion.; nExcellent interpersonal, collaboration and communication skills with the ability to influence and build trusting relationships at all levels.; nEffective project management skills, with demonstrated success in prioritizing multiple priorities and delivering outcomes through own hands-on efforts and through leading others.; nStrategic thinking, ability to assess situations in the context of business strategy that translate into execution, action, and results.; nFlexible and adaptable style; comfortable navigating through ambiguity.; nAbility to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.; nProficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.; nAbility to learn new software and tools as required; nProficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS and talent management systems.; n nEducation and Experience nnBachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.; n5+ years nationwide human resource management experience required.; n nPreferred Experience nnPrevious travel, tourism, hospitality, retail and/or manufacturing experience a plus; nExperience with Jones Act / Merchant Marine Act of 1920 and Passenger Vessel Services Act; n nWhat We Offer You nnHighly competitive compensation plan. ; nnSalary range $150,000-$175,000 annually determined by a myriad of factors including, but not limited to, years of experience, depth of experience, and other relevant business considerations.;
