Laboratory Technician (f/m/d)

Medical division of specialised surgery and internal medicin
Department of Rheumatology and Immunology

60 – 100 % | in Bern

Entry immediately or as agreed upon
Limited for 1 year with the option to extend

The aim of our translational projects at the Department of Rheumatology and Immunology is the identification of pathomechanisms underlying connective tissue diseases to pave the way towards a personalized medicine and a better care for patients in the future.

Your challenge
We are looking for a motivated person with strong interest in biomedical research who supports us with processing of clinical samples and experimental work.

  • Maintenance of primary cell cultures and performing cell culture experiments
  • Molecular biology techniques (e.g. DNA & RNA extraction, PCR, etc.)
  • Protein analysis (e.g. Western blotting, flow cytometry, ELISA, etc.)
  • Support in supervising students for laboratory work
  • Ordering, receipt and tracking of laboratory reagents
  • Maintenance of equipment, and testing of new equipment
  • Common lab duties (e.g. preparing material for autoclaving, etc.)
  • Histology, immunohistochemistry

Your profile

  • Master's degree in life science, or equivalent, or completed training as a laboratory technician (Dipl. Biomed. Analytiker:in)
  • Background in molecular or cell biology and experience in using GraphPad software would be a plus
  • Good organizational skills
  • Good English language skills (oral and written)

Our research laboratory is located in the Department of BioMedical Research of the University of Bern, providing us state-of-the-art infrastructure for performing innovative and translational research projects in the field of Rheumatology. You will have the opportunity to work in an interdisciplinary and international team. Candidates that are interested can overtake specific parts within a research project.
