Job Description - NF Director Precision Health

Summary

This empowers governments to re-engineer reactive care systems into proactive, predictive and preventive health systems that keep people healthy. You will drive the precision population health strategy for the Novartis Foundation and leads its execution, with the aim to create a future proof, fully digitized and AI driven CV population health model, enabled by data and technology. You will operate in a matrix organization within the NF team and with internal and external stakeholders. This role offers the opportunity to shape and pioneer the transformation of health and care systems around the world.

About the Role

​Key Responsibilities:

  • Leverages a deep understanding of data, advanced analytics and modeling and simulation in health, as well as in global public health and healthcare industry, to guide the development and execution of precision health approaches for the Novartis Foundation, focusing on data-driven health planning and resource allocation, integrate also personalized medicine tools where ever possible.
  • Strategic leadership: develops and executes a comprehensive precision health strategy that aligns with the foundation's mission and goals, together with the Director of Strategy, and the Novartis foundation team.
  • Cross-disciplinary collaboration: works closely with Novartis departments such as IT, research and development, medical affairs, modelling and simulation, and external partners to ensure a cohesive approach to precision health.
  • Data science (advanced analytics, modelling and simulation): oversee the design and execution of the Novartis Foundation data strategy and analytics in the field of population health, ensuring compliance with ethical and regulatory standards.
  • People-centred approach: promote precision population health (and where applicable also personalized patient treatment plans) by integrating different data sources in local contexts (healthcare data, social determinants data, genetic, environmental, and behavioral data) and support local authorities and other decision makers with data and AI driven simulator tools that innovate health planning, resource allocation and healthcare delivery.
  • Demonstrates outstanding stakeholder engagement, relationship building and nurturing skills, and leverage those to identify trends and opportunities that can further shape NF’s thought leadership in population health enabled by data, technology and AI.
  • Serves as program director on critical initiatives in relation to data driven population health, from initial assessment to development and deployment/continuous improvement.
  • Understands complex global health problems and formulates strategies for engaging with thought leaders, and/or build productive alliances to address burning questions in data and advanced analytics to progress understanding of social, environmental and behavioral drivers of urban CV population health and health inequities

What you'll bring to the role:

Essential Criteria:

  • Qualified Medical Doctor (MD)
  • Extensive experience in healthcare, with significant experience in precision health, personalized medicine, or a related field.
  • Proven track record of collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proven agility to work in fast paced environments, showing strong flexibility and action-oriented mindset. Track record in engaging with multiple stakeholders and managing complex initiatives, and able to act under significant level of uncertainty.
  • Fluency in English with excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information to diverse audiences. Outstanding interpersonal skills and proven ability in influencing, negotiating and partnership building – able to integrate data, technology, public health and business aspects.
  • Problem-Solving: strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on innovative solutions in precision health

Desirable Criteria:

  • Masters/MSc/PhD in bioinformatics, molecular biology, genetics or in a quantitative discipline (applied mathematics,  computer science and engineering, epidemiology and statistics or equivalent) is a plus.
  • Published research or contributions to the field of precision health
