Senior Accountant

Performs varied accounting and analysis activities of a complex nature related to feedstock and energy transactions. Provides technical leadership to others and responds to escalated issues. Collaborates with AP, AR, Controlling and other internal stakeholders and acts as interface between Feedstock Department and GBS (Global Business Services).

• Performs advanced or specialized work requiring comprehensive knowledge of accounting theory and principles. Performs monthly, quarterly and annual close processes. Recommends and develops processes to enhance the efficiency of the close process.
• Prepares trial balances, financial statements and consolidations. Prepares general ledger reconciliations to sub-ledgers and financial analysis. Provides interpretation of accounts and records.
• Provides analysis of complex accounting information as required. Highlights cost reduction opportunities.
• Develops standard and specialized reports and statements for the following: ledgers and preparation of journal entries; fixed asset or inventory accounting; cost accounting; preparation of trial balance, financial statements, or consolidations; bank account reconciliations; trend/analysis information.
• Provides management with reports of monthly close analyses and others, including tax reports, on a timely manner.
• Participates in the development of and implements difficult accounting systems, methods and controls.
• May work on special projects including statutory reporting requirements and lead related activities.
• Assists with training programs for new or less-experienced accounting employees. Serves as technical resource to others and assists with resolution of escalated problems.

• 5+ years accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Fluent in English and German language skills, written and verbal.
• Extensive knowledge of accounting principles and usage of financial statements; receivables, payables, cost accounting, internal controls, auditing, financial reporting and usage of financial statements.
• Knowledge of accounting laws, regulations and standards.
• Computer literate (MS Office, Lotus Notes, Finance module of an ERP system with Oracle application).
• Commercial degree or University degree in Accounting or Finance.
