Your responsibilities

You recently graduated in civil engineering and are willing to gain hands-on experience in a multicultural environment? This Works Supervisor position might be your opportunity to join CERN's dynamic Civil Engineering section within Site Asset Management group.

Your main duties will include:

  • Responsibility for work requests in the fields of civil engineering, roads, networks and buildings (concrete / metal structure, envelope) for surface buildings, underground structures and technical galleries;
  • Launch and follow-up of (construction or renovation) works in close cooperation with internal customers;
  • Coordination of various technical and secondary trades;
  • Regular control of Safety Rules enforcement on the work site;
  • Quality control of the contractors' daily work;
  • Control of the works execution, in line with best practices and technical specifications;
  • Budget follow-up: checking quotes, launch orders, control and validation of the final measurements established by the contractors;
  • Use of CERN's computer tools.

  • Underground structure construction;
  • Planning, organising, and coordinating tasks;
  • Site measurements and cost control;
  • Evidence-based problem-solving;
  • Teamwork and collaboration;
  • Continuous learning;
  • Spoken and written English or French, with a commitment to learn the other language.

Eligibility criteria:

  • You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.
  • By the application deadline, you have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Civil Engineering (or a related field) and your highest educational qualification is either a Bachelor's or Master's degree.
  • You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
  • Applicants without University degree are not eligible.
  • Applicants with a PhD are not eligible.

Additional Information

Job closing date: 29.06.2025 at 23:59 CEST

Contract duration: 24 months, with a possible extension up to 36 months maximum.

Working hours: 40 hours per week

Target start date: 01-September-2025

This position involves:

  • Work in Radiation Areas.
  • Interventions in underground installations.
  • A valid driving licence.

  • A monthly stipend ranging between 5196 and 5716 Swiss Francs (net of tax).

  • 30 days of paid leave per year.
