Job Description - Engineering Manager, Maritime Vehicles


As Engineering Manager of the Maritime Team, you’ll lead the launch of a new product category at Auterion—bringing our cutting-edge software stack to autonomous maritime systems.


You’ll drive technical development, collaborate across teams and with key industry partners, and help shape the future of robotics at sea.


Responsibilities and Duties:



  • Lead and inspire a team of top engineers—be their advocate, mentor, and biggest supporter

  • Stay hands-on and shape solutions together with your agile team

  • Own the entire product vertical—from early whiteboard concepts to real-world, field-proven releases

  • Collaborate with industry leaders to define go-to-market strategies and shape the future roadmap

  • Work cross-functionally to ensure your team has the tools and infrastructure to thrive

  • Deliver high-quality software and advanced algorithms through rigorous testing and smart automation

  • Empower team members with guidance and mentorship in engineering excellence, leadership capabilities, and long-term career growth


Qualifications and Skills:



  • 7+ years of experience in software development with 1+ years of leading teams

  • Track record of shipping reliable, extensible and maintainable software at scale in a rapidly evolving environment

  • Strong C++ and Python programming skills in a real-time or embedded context

  • Strong knowledge of embedded software and systems

  • Hands-on experience testing and debugging autonomous systems in the field

  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and effectively, internally and externally


Preferred Skills:



  • Experience integrating maritime sensors (e.g., GPS, Radar, AIS, etc.)

  • Knowledge of CAN, NMEA 2000, and Ethernet-based system architectures

  • Confident working with ROS or ROS2 to power real-world robotics

  • Strong interest in control theory and guidance systems for autonomous platforms

  • Hands-on experience with device interfaces like CAN, UAVCAN, I2C, and SPI

  • Comfortable using Docker and virtualized environments to streamline development

  • Solid grasp of modern networking principles in distributed systems

  • Passionate for robotics—especially cutting-edge UXS technologies
