Your role
As Head of Insurance Supply, you will own grape’s carrier and reinsurance partnerships. You will build and diversify our capacity panel, secure the structures behind existing and new products, and ensure our insurance supply grows with the business.
Today, this responsibility is led by our CEOs. You will take it over, build it into a dedicated function and represent Insurance Supply as a member of grape’s Leadership Team.
What you’ll do:
1. Build and diversify our capacity panel
- Develop grape’s capacity strategy for Switzerland and Liechtenstein.
- Identify, qualify, negotiate with and onboard new carriers and reinsurers.
- Lead relationships from the first conversation through due diligence, commercial negotiation and signed agreement.
- Secure the contracted capacity required for grape’s annual business plan and written commitments for the following year.
- Diversify the panel to support growth, enable new products and reduce concentration risk.
2. Build strong carrier partnerships
- Own carrier and reinsurer relationships at operational, commercial and executive level.
- Establish a clear governance cadence, including operational reviews, strategic meetings and annual capacity negotiations.
- Own commercial terms, contracts, renewals, outsourcing agreements and service levels.
- Monitor partnership performance, resolve issues early and build relationships that grow over time.
- Represent grape credibly across the insurance, reinsurance and broking market.
3. Shape products and build the function
- Design and secure the carrier and reinsurance structures required for new products.
- Evaluate pricing, loss ratios, reserving, commissions, capital requirements and solvency implications.
- Work closely with Actuarial, Underwriting, Legal, Compliance, Risk, Product and Distribution.
- Own the Insurance Supply strategy, priorities, OKRs, processes and reporting.
- Provide the Leadership Team with a clear view of capacity coverage, pipeline and risk.
- Hire and lead a Carrier Partnerships Manager as the function grows.
What you’ll bring:
- At least eight years of insurance experience, including carrier partnerships, MGA capacity management, programme business, reinsurance broking or business development at a carrier.
- A demonstrated track record of taking capacity relationships from initial contact through negotiation to a signed binding authority, treaty or comparable agreement.
- Strong commercial judgement and the confidence to negotiate with senior stakeholders across carriers, reinsurers, MGAs and brokers.
- A strong understanding of insurance portfolio economics, including loss ratios, reserving, pricing, capacity and capital implications.
- Experience building long-term external partnerships and a relevant network across the carrier, reinsurance or broking market.
- The ability to move between strategy, relationship building, negotiation and operational detail.
- Fluent English.
Strong advantage:
- Experience working within an MGA or directly with MGA and programme structures.
- Knowledge of Swiss and Liechtenstein employee insurance, particularly KTG, UVG and UVG-Z.
- Familiarity with the Swiss and Liechtenstein regulatory environment.
- German or French proficiency.
- Experience building or leading a capacity or carrier-partnerships function.
