Fotokite develops autonomous, high-endurance tethered unmanned aerial systems to help firefighters and public safety teams save lives. Fotokite systems allow first responders to quickly and easily gain situational awareness after arriving at emergency scenes: our autonomous one-touch launch/land system makes operation simple and safe; the dual color and thermal camera payload provides situational awareness from the system’s aerial perspective; and actively tethered flight means the system can be flown without a certified pilot, and can be left flying for as long as the situation requires.

Fotokite has offices in Zürich and the US (Boulder and remote) with about 50 employees in Zürich. We have an on-premise server and a cloud infrastructure. 

We are seeking a motivated IT Technician (part-time) to help us with our Workplace IT in Zürich (stationary and mobile workplaces, peripheral and communication systems and networks). The role is ideal for a technical student with a solid IT background including Linux looking to gain practical experience while contributing to a dynamic IT environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Assisting in deploying, installing, and maintaining hardware, software, and network components, as well as communications equipment and peripherals


• Tracking and replacing defective equipment


• Maintaining and expanding small local networks and installed hardware and software


• Propose and track IT equipment purchases in collaboration with decision makers


• Providing support when locating and correcting error states in hardware, software, and communication networks


• Maintaining inventory of all installed and stored hardware and software, network components, and licenses


• Providing support when moving and expanding workplace systems


• Maintain operating manuals, guides and checklists


• Assist in coordinating the activities of suppliers, consultants and support partners


• Monitor hardware, software and network availability


• Initiate escalation procedures according to specifications


• Perform other duties as assigned

Education / Qualifications

• Completed Apprenticeship/baccalaureate or currently studying at a technical university or university of applied sciences


• Proficiency in Linux environments (including shell scripting and command-line interfaces); Windows OS familiarity is advantageous.
