Legal Adviser (IPT-KT-IP-2025-107-GRAP)

Your responsibilities

Join the IP Management and KT Policies (IP) Section of the Knowledge Transfer (KT) Group! As a Legal Adviser, you'll be involved in all of the various activities of the IP Section.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Drafting and reviewing a variety of agreements related to CERN's knowledge transfer activities, such as license agreements and R&D agreements with other scientific institutes, start-ups and industry.
• Providing legal assistance on intellectual property related matters to CERN personnel and the various CERN units.
• Addressing policy matters related to intellectual property and knowledge transfer.

Your profile

Skills:

• Experience with intellectual property law (e.g. copyright, patents, trademarks, trade secrets, etc.), new technologies and licensing acquired in a law firm, industry or scientific institutes with international exposure.
• Master's degree in Intellectual Property Law or New Technology Law.
• A bar exam admission is considered an asset.
• Spoken and written English, with a commitment to learn French.

Eligibility criteria:

• You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.
• You have a professional background in Law (or a related field) and have either:
  • a Master's degree with 2 to 6 years of post-graduation professional experience;
  • or a PhD with no more than 3 years of post-graduation professional experience.
• You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.

Contract duration: 24 months, with a possible extension up to 36 months maximum.

• A monthly stipend ranging between 6287 and 6911 Swiss Francs per month (net of tax).
