Job Description - Mechanical Engineer for Nuclear Dismantling (SY-STI-TCD-2025-123-GRAP)

Job Description

Your responsibilities

Join our team at CERN's SY-STI-TCD section and play a critical role in the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of beam-intercepting devices essential to our accelerator complex. As a dedicated and skilled mechanical engineer with experience in nuclear facilities, you will work within a multidisciplinary team to prepare, supervise, coordinate, and resolve problems on a challenging project: the dismantling site of the TCC2 cavern at CERN.

Your expertise will be crucial in nuclear decommissioning and maintenance operations in order to carry out the tasks entrusted to you during the preparation phase.

This will include:

  • Clarifying the scope of the intervention;
  • Preparing the intervention documentation and schedule;
  • Defining the operating procedures with the contractor and the coordination unit (NA-CONS).

During the operation phase your main tasks will consist of monitoring the site, providing supervision, and assisting with any unexpected issues that may arise during the work. You will have a key role in facilitating activities and in proposing solutions and improvements during the dismantling operation.

This will include:

  • Validating the works undertaking in the TTC2 facility according to the defined scope;
  • Ensuring contractors meet their commitments;
  • Compiling feedback (REX) to support future projects.

If you excel in a dynamic setting and are passionate about overcoming the challenges of nuclear dismantling and maintenance projects within a world-renowned scientific institution, we invite you to join us in advancing the future of particle physics at CERN.
