Job Description
Circle K is a leading international convenience and fuel retailer with a significant footprint across Europe. The company operates an extensive network of 4800+ fuel stations and associated convenience stores in Ireland, Scandinavia, the Baltics, Poland, Benelux & Germany, supplying millions of customers each day with high-quality fuels and energy solutions.
Comprised of seasoned energy trading professionals, Circle K Energy Trading, based in Geneva, Switzerland, supplies transportation fuels to all European business units. The trading team uses a combination of term and spot purchases, storage, blending, and vessel chartering to ensure reliable fuel availability across the network at competitive prices.
The Middle Office team sits between the trading desk and back-office operations, ensuring that trading activities are accurately measured, controlled, and reported. It is responsible for monitoring positions, PnL, and risk exposures, validating trades, and enforcing risk limits and controls. By providing independent oversight and reliable analysis, the Middle Office supports informed decision-making by traders and management while helping to safeguard the firm against financial, operational, and regulatory risks.
Duties:
Ensure ETRM (Energy Trading & Risk Management system) position integrity (analyze daily position change, identify discrepancies, liaise with internal stakeholders to address issues, create manual adjustments as needed).
Handle daily position & pricing exposure reporting.
Prepare daily Value at Risk (VaR) report.
Issue daily hedging order to traders and handle related internal allocations.
Monitor compliance with internal limits & delegations of authority.
Collaborate with trading, shipping, back-office, operations, IT, accounting & legal teams to address issues & advance projects.
Work closely with ETRM team to participate in new developments (new reports, system integrations, system updates…).
Build new & improve existing reporting. Leverage technology to streamline existing processes & automate tasks.
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, mathematics, engineering, or a related discipline.
Working knowledge of Office 365 suite, and Microsoft Excel in particular. Affinity for IT in general.
Professional working proficiency in English language (B2).
Nice to have:
Knowledge of physical energy markets (specifically middle distillates, gasoline & biofuels) and oil products shipping.
Familiarity with position reporting, hedging, derivatives (futures, options, swaps), market risk management.
Excel proficiency (Pivot tables, advanced functions, VBA scripting, data connections).
SQL & data queries (ability to query databases, knowledge of Microsoft Query & Power BI).
Specific experience in market risk or middle office, and exposure to trading desks.
Fluency in French.

Communication: Clear oral and written communication; ability to explain complex issues to non-technical stakeholders.
Teamwork: Comfortable collaborating with front office, risk, IT, and back-office teams.
