We use technology to solve problems in spaces, light, and more things to come… for our customers, our communities, and our planet.
Acuity Inc. (NYSE: AYI) is a market-leading industrial technology company. We use technology to solve problems in spaces, light, and more things to come. Through our two business segments, Acuity Brands Lighting and Lighting Controls (ABL) and the Intelligent Spaces Group (ISG), we design, manufacture, and bring to market products and services that make a valuable difference in people’s lives.
We are positioned at the intersection of sustainability and technology. Our businesses develop technology that helps save our customers energy and reduce their carbon emissions. We achieve growth through the development of innovative new products and services, including lighting, lighting controls, building management solutions, and location-aware applications.
Product Management & Roadmap Ownership
- Own the product roadmap, requirements, and backlog for the live wedge application and subsequent apps in the Atrius Software Apps portfolio (DataApps, AtriusOne).
- Translate customer problems and market signal into clearly specified, shippable product; partner with engineering on prioritization, scoping, and delivery sequencing.
- Define what 'shippable, deployable, repeatable' means from the product side and drive it to done.
Customer Discovery & Market Validation
- Lead structured customer discovery with facilities-management and operations buyers and operators, uncovering root-cause problems and validating willingness to pay.
- Size opportunities and validate the buying path and commercial hypotheses.
- Feed discovery insight into portfolio prioritization and venture investment recommendations.
Go-to-Market Strategy & Commercial Readiness
- Own product positioning, packaging / pricing hypotheses, value-case development, and success-metric definition for each venture.
- Build the go-to-market motion for pilots and early adoption; establish operational plans with short-to-mid-term (1–3 year) impact.
- Interpret key financial indicators, competitive intelligence, and customer data to make informed product and positioning decisions.
- Set the route to market for each validated app: sold direct or through Acuity's existing products and sales channels; work with Strategy & Business Operations on pricing and packaging, and turn early customer wins into a repeatable sales motion.
- Define what proof is needed before an app graduates into the standard product and sales organization; the test is always the same: customers paying, not internal conviction.
Pilot Design & Customer Engagement
- Design and lead pilot programs from customer selection through deployment learning; own the engagement model and feedback loops that validate product-market fit.
- Anticipate and balance the needs of customers, engineering, sales, and leadership so pilots generate clear commercial signal.
- Measure adoption, expansion readiness, and revenue signal across pilots.
Cross-Functional Execution & Delivery Partnership
- Work in tight lockstep with the engineering team to sequence delivery against commercial milestones.
- Ensure product decisions balance customer, technical, and business constraints; resolve trade-offs transparently.
- Maintain a shared, jointly owned definition of pilot success across product and engineering.
Market Intelligence & Portfolio Input
- Maintain competitive and market intelligence across the FM / building-technology landscape.
- Provide venture investment, prioritization, and kill / pivot input to the Head of Product & Commercialization.
- Improve upon discovery and GTM processes using significant conceptualizing and reasoning skills.
