Polymerization Specialist

DePoly is looking for a highly experienced Polymerization Specialist to lead, develop and scale our PET polymerization knowhow from inhouse to industrial level. The ultimate objective for this role is achieving product-market fit for DePoly’s recycled PET on a global scale. This position requires a deep understanding of the entire PET production cycle, from monomer quality to final polymer properties. The ideal candidate will bring extensive hands-on experience in process optimization, material handling, quality assessment and industrial sized PET-applications. 

Key Responsibilities:  

• Develop a deep understanding of PET polymerization from DePoly monomers to achieve high quality polymer output. 
• Optimize PET formulations to meet specific polymer quality requirements and specifications.  
• Assess and define critical monomer quality requirements and impact on PET properties.  
• Conduct equipment troubleshooting, maintenance, and process optimization. 
• Work cross functionally with R&D, quality control, production, and business development to align polymerization processes with business goals.  
• Prepare technical reports and presentations for stakeholders and customers.  
• Scale DePoly’s PET portfolio to industrial scale with partners

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, or in a related field.   
• Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience in PET polymerization or in similar polymer production. 
• Extensive involvement in end-to-end polymerization processes, including monomer handling, formulation, process control, and troubleshooting. 
• Deep knowledge in polymerization kinetics and impact of process variables on product quality. 
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills.  
• Ability to travel to partners and attend industry conferences  
• Good to have: Advanced plastic recycling technologies (e.g. chemical recycling) 
• Good to have: Experience with operating & optimizing bench scale polymerization units. 
• Fluent in English, or any other language is an asset.   
• Have a Swiss working permit or be eligible to work in Switzerland.
