This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Software Engineer, Real-Time Data Platform in Switzerland.
As a Senior Software Engineer on the Real-Time Data Platform team, you will design and build high-load, distributed systems that process data from millions of users globally. You will have the opportunity to shape architectural decisions, drive operational excellence, and collaborate with cross-functional teams on scalable services and integrations. Accountabilities
- Design, implement, and maintain real-time, high-load data collection and processing services
- Lead architectural decisions for shared infrastructure components, including metrics, distributed tracing, and configuration management
- Collaborate with multi-functional teams to define API contracts and integration points
- Ensure operational excellence through monitoring, performance optimization, and reliability engineering
- Contribute to scalable, event-driven microservices architecture and distributed system design
- Participate in CI/CD pipeline development and infrastructure as code practices
- Support observability and troubleshooting through dashboards, metrics, and distributed tracing tools
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Strong expertise in Java (Java 17+), including concurrency and Java Memory Model (JMM)
- Proficiency in Spring Boot and reactive programming frameworks (e.g., Project Reactor)
- Hands-on experience with distributed systems, microservices, and event-driven development
- Practical experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and message brokers (Apache Kafka preferred)
- Strong command of English
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or similar
- Familiarity with observability tools, including Prometheus, Grafana, and distributed tracing (OpenTelemetry or similar)
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, Jenkins, etc.)
- Knowledge of time-series or columnar databases (ClickHouse, Cassandra)
