About the Opportunity

Foxmont Talent is partnering with a highly respected Swiss organisation to appoint an experienced Senior Database Engineer.

This opportunity is ideal for an engineer who enjoys owning and evolving enterprise MS-SQL environments that sit at the heart of critical business operations. You'll play a key role in ensuring database platforms remain secure, resilient and high-performing, while contributing to the continued evolution of a modern Microsoft technology landscape.

Working within a collaborative engineering team, you'll have the opportunity to influence technical direction, lead platform improvements and support large-scale systems where reliability, availability and performance are essential.

Main Responsibilities

• Design, engineer and support enterprise MS-SQL environments supporting business-critical applications.


• Drive continuous improvements across database performance, resilience, scalability and operational stability.


• Lead technical projects including platform upgrades, migrations and infrastructure modernisation initiatives.


• Develop and implement scalable database solutions aligned with business and technical requirements.


• Collaborate closely with software, infrastructure and cloud engineering teams to support application integration and database services.


• Provide technical expertise across database architecture, optimisation, security, monitoring and operational best practice.


• Contribute to the ongoing development of modern Microsoft-based database technologies across both on-premise and cloud environments.


• Help ensure the reliability, security and availability of enterprise database services.

Your Profile

We're looking for an experienced Database Engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and takes pride in building reliable, secure and high-performing database environments.

To succeed in this role, you'll ideally have:

• Strong commercial experience administering and optimising enterprise MS-SQL environments.


• Proven expertise in database performance tuning, optimisation, security, monitoring and disaster recovery.


• Experience working with Azure SQL Database and Azure SQL Managed Instance is a plus. 


• Experience with database scripting and automation, ideally including T-SQL and PowerShell.


• Exposure to data streaming or integration technologies such as Kafka would be advantageous.


• Experience working within large-scale enterprise or business-critical technology environments.


• A collaborative approach with the ability to work closely alongside software, cloud and infrastructure engineering teams.


• A proactive mindset with a genuine passion for continuously improving database platforms and technical processes.


• Professional fluency in German, together with confident communication skills in English.
