Senior Java Developer – ABS Solutions & Claims

For our client based in Zurich, we are looking for a Senior Java Developer – ABS Solutions & Claims.

In this project, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and enhancing complex enterprise applications within an international environment. You will contribute your expertise in Java development and support the implementation of scalable ABS-based claims solutions.

Your Tasks:

• Lead the design and development of enterprise claims solutions in a complex international environment
• Analyze and integrate global software components into the local application landscape while considering country-specific requirements
• Design scalable and maintainable solution architectures for claims applications
• Define and document functional and technical enhancements required for local implementations
• Guide and mentor development teams across multiple international locations, ensuring technical alignment and best practices
• Coordinate technical activities and collaborate closely with architects, developers, business stakeholders, and product teams
• Ensure high software quality through code reviews, unit testing, integration testing, and adherence to development standards
• Drive continuous improvement of architecture, development processes, and software quality
• Support the implementation of modern, event-driven and microservice-based solutions
• Contribute to Agile ceremonies and actively drive technical discussions and decision-making

Your Profile:

• 10+ years of experience as a Senior Java Developer, Lead Developer, or Solution Architect in enterprise environments
• Experience in the insurance domain, particularly claims processes, is beneficial
• Knowledge of ABS-based solutions, ABS Business Layer, CISL / CISLv2, or ABS extensions is a plus
• Strong expertise in Java (17/21), Spring Boot, REST APIs, microservices, and event-driven architectures with Kafka
• Experience with Domain-Driven Design, software architecture, and modern development practices
• Proven experience leading and coordinating international development teams
• Strong understanding of software quality processes, including code reviews, testing, and CI/CD practices
• Experience with Git, JUnit, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and cloud environments (Azure/AWS) is an advantage
• Experience with Agile methodologies and strong communication skills across technical and business teams
• Proactive, solution-oriented mindset with a strong ownership mentality
• Fluent in English, German is an advantage
