Site Supervisor - FIFO

About The Project

Ventia has been awarded a three-year contract with a multinational aerospace, defence and information security organisation for the design & commissioning of a new chiller system for the Operational Radar Networks as a key part of Australia’s defence infrastructure.

About the Role

Reporting to the Construction Manager, the role of the FIFO Site Supervisor will be to oversee and/or manage assigned construction activities, areas or stages of the project.

The role can be located anywhere in Australia as it is a Fly in Fly Out (FIFO) with travel between home and around Australia.

The Site Supervisor will also ensure that project and subcontracted personnel are working in accordance with program and Company policies, systems and procedures and coordinate site activities and personnel for maximum performance and delivery.

What you’ll be doing:

• Manage on site compliance with Ventia Risk Management; Quality Assurance; and Health, Safety and Environment management (HSE) systems, including statutory obligations.


• Co-ordinate the day-to-day site construction and administration activities to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the site, including contractor support crews (eg traffic, Vacuum Trucks etc)


• Provide feedback to Construction Manager and Planner for development of construction program and critical milestones.


• Review the construction program on an on-going basis and discuss variances with the Construction Manager / Project Manager. 


• Interpret drawings on site to ensure accuracy, practicality and compliance with specifications prior to construction commencement.


• Monitor subcontractor and supplier performance and implement corrective action as required (i.e. direct communication or discussion with the Project Manager or Project Engineer).


• Record time sheets for labour hire personnel.


• Preform and manage tasks associated with construction build, including but not limited to rod and roping, NDD, spit water, pit locating.

About You

To be successful in your application, you will have experience working as a Site Manager ideally with tertiary or trade qualifications accompanied with:

• Knowledge of construction, project and program controls principles and practices (including budget)


• Interpret and understand technical drawings and specifications


• Working knowledge of HSE systems and processes


• Computer skills including MS Word, Excel, MS Project


• White Card (CIC) (Construction Induction Card)


• First Aid qualification

Other conditions:

• The incumbent to this role must be eligible to hold a Defence Security Clearance up to the level of Negative Vetting Level 1. As a result of this requirement the incumbent must be an Australian Citizen.


• Ability to work away from home for 3-4 weeks at a time.


• Weekend and out of hours work may be required
