Systems Design Engineer

Welcome to the Audi F1 Project.  
 
 Audi will be competing in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship from 2026.  
 
The new team has three locations. Audi's Motorsport Competence Center in Neuburg (Germany) is considered one of the most modern of its kind in Europe. The Sauber Group's Formula 1 factory in Hinwil (Switzerland) is known for its innovative technologies and passion for racing. The Sauber Motorsport Technical Center, UK will be operational this year. Our Power Unit comes from Neuburg, while Hinwil is responsible for the development of the chassis and race operations.

Become part of this unique project and make motorsport history.We are looking for mechanical and hydraulic Systems Design Engineers to join our Systems Group.The position for the Audi F1 Project is at Sauber in Hinwil (Switzerland).

• Contributing to the design & development of mechanical and hydraulic systems associated with the Power Unit integration, steering, braking, fuel & cooling layouts.
• Designing appropriate test rigs and racecar installations and participate in test and validation of components.
• Produce detailed CAD models and technical drawings (CATIA v6 / 3DExperience advantageous) and maintain technical documentation and standards compliance.
• Liaise closely with suppliers, senior designers and other groups across the team to ensure efficient and reliable designs for the relevant systems.
• Perform systems simulations to aid the relevant designs, experience with Matlab, Amesim advantageous.

• Minimum degree qualification in mechanical engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in mechanical and/or hydraulics system design in an F1 or high-level motorsports environment.
• Understanding of system simulation & programming tools such as FEA, Matlab / Simulink, Amesim, Python.
• Excellent teamwork, communication & organisational skills.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure and with a keen sense of responsibility.
• Proficiency in English language skills. German language skills will be an advantage.
