Position Summary 

As a Scientific AI Validation Intern within the Computational Sciences team, you will contribute to strategic Nestlé Research digitalization initiatives at the intersection of artificial intelligence, scientific knowledge, and R&D decision-making. Your primary focus will be to validate the accuracy, reliability, and scientific soundness of a web-based application powered by Large Language Models (LLMs). This application is designed to interrogate and synthesize information from scientific publication and patent databases to support research activities.

Working closely with data scientists, computational scientists, and end users, you will help ensure that AI-generated outputs meet high scientific quality standards, are transparent, and are fit for use in a research environment.

A Day in the Life of a Scientific AI Validation Intern

• Evaluate the accuracy and scientific validity of LLM-generated answers derived from scientific sources.


• Help design and execute systematic validation and benchmarking strategies for AI-assisted scientific applications


• Compare model outputs against ground truth sources and expert-reviewed references


• Test and review user-facing features and interfaces of the web application with internal end users


• Identify failure modes, biases, and limitations in LLM-based reasoning over scientific content


• Document validation results, assumptions, and recommendations to support continuous improvement


• Contribute to complementary activities such as dashboarding, result visualization, or internal documentation, depending on project needs

What will make you successful

• Current Bachelor or Master student, or recent graduate in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Bioinformatics, Information Science, or related field.


• Experience with Python and familiarity with APIs and data-driven applications


• Interest and/or prior exposure in Agentic AI, LLMs, NLP, or AI-assisted knowledge discovery


• Ability to critically assess scientific literature and patents


• Ability to collaborate within cross-functional teams


• Fluency in English, any other language would be an asset
