PURPOSE OF POSITION
To provide a consistent room and bathroom product, and service adjacent areas to meet Raffles standards for cleanliness and presentation
Responsible for the organized, smooth function of the Housekeeping Department’s evening operation.
Be aware of employee needs to be able to delight guests. Maintain a high level of productivity in all areas.
KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage and supervise all tasks of his/her staff
- Organizes the day to day evening operation and staffing according to occupancy, business needs and departmental planning.
- Monitors the efficient handling, distribution and return of keys and phones against signature of receiver.
- Makes certain employees to be supervised report to assigned area on time in uniform as per departmental dress and hygiene code, noise level is kept to a minimum
- Allocates fair distribution of work assignments and duties to turn-down attendants, floor supervisors and public area personnel, controls their performance, and makes sure tasks are completed at the end of shifts.
- Oversees the organized, reliable verbal and written hand-over between morning, evening and night shifts, scans day supervisor’s reports for late service requests, double-lock or “do not disturb” rooms and other rooms not cleaned in the morning.
- Keeps an eye on the proper usage of linen, the correct handling of equipment and supplies to eliminate abuse or misuse.
- Ensure cleanliness of guest rooms, guest room balconies, guest corridors, linen rooms and housekeeping pantries according to set standards and procedures
- Supervise public areas
- Ensure guests’ requests are promptly and courteously met
- Anticipate guest’s needs through observation and offer prompt, efficient service either personally or through effective communication with other employees
- Report damage or malfunction in hotel rooms using P.M.S system
- Maintain equipment in proper state of cleanliness and repair
- Assist in preparing cleaning schedule for the return of out-of-order rooms.
- Maintain a section floor report
- Conduct evening briefings with staff at floor level
- Conduct regular turn down room checklists
- Report unusual behavior/activities on floors to Assistant Housekeeping Manager
- Record room status in allocated section accurately
- Comply with hotel’s health, safety and hygiene policies
- Attend meetings and training sessions as required
- Fully understand the difference in guest levels (VIP) and in room categories
PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES
- Good reading, writing and oral proficiency in English
- Must be well presented and professionally groomed at all times
- Strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail
- Builds departmental team work, maintains a harmonious work relationship with attendants, superiors and colleagues

Degree from School for Tourism & Hotel Management

Minimum 3 years experience in a similar capacity in the hospitality industry
