The Associate, Logistics is responsible for duties in the incoming and outgoing movement, distribution and storage of supplies, materials and product at the company.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS AND ASSOCIATED ACTIVITIES:
As an employee of Lindsay Sulama, the employee’s responsibilities are, but not limited to:
- Planning and Scheduling of goods
- Arrange transport of work in process goods and items to and from sub-contractors.
- Ensure SOP and quality processes are followed.
- Responsible for assembling and preparation of the order to be dispatched to the customer and that the correct order is delivered timeously, by liaising with the relevant Distributors.
- Arrange for the Dispatch and checking of export finished goods.
- Research ideal shipping techniques, routing, and carriers.
- Ensure that order dispatched meet quality standards to customer.
- Control of raw materials going and coming from sub-contractors
- Arrangement of transport of working process items to and from sub-contractors.
- Control of company delivery vehicles
- Control the Company delivery vehicles by ensuring that raw materials are received timeously, and finished goods are delivered locally when required.
- Customer Service/Enquiries
- Assist with customer request in terms of product packaging and shipping.
- Assist Customer Service with investigating customer enquiries to provide Customer Service and Marketing Manager with feedback or solutions.
- Warehousing and Transit Stores
- Control of the Company’s warehouses
- Support for maintaining safety standards at the warehouses
- Organize warehouse, label goods, plot routes, and process shipments.
- Drive continuous improvement of warehouse SOP’s, picking and packing procedures, safety.
- Responsible for the accuracy of Stock Levels in the Warehouse/factory
- Support and oversee alongside the SC Manager the yearly stock take process.
- Any stock discrepancies will be communicated to the Supply Chain Manager and the Operations Manager.
- Stock discrepancies will be communicated and investigated with the Supply Chain Manager and Operations manager to determine root cause and rectify.
- Compliance and Auditing
- Ensure that all shipping documentation is correct and forwarded to the Commercial department for processing
- Auditing of safety systems on internal audit plan
- Ensure all operations adhere to the relevant legislation, guidelines, and ISO requirements.
- Effective planning of inventory in terms of stock keeping is ensured. Following stock controlling methods like FIFO (“First in first out”).
- Shipping time
Potential issues have been identified in the order fulfillment process
The degree of incidents has been monitored
Average delivery time has been tracked in detail.
All costs from order placement to delivery has been tracked.
Expenses of warehouse has been optimized.
Up to date knowledge and understanding of how many orders have been shipped
No logistical challenges or issues recorded due to inaccurate inventory.
- Inventory Turnover (split responsibility between Supply Chain Manager, Procurement and Commercial Department)
Effective planning of inventory in terms of stock keeping is ensured.
- Inventory to Sales Ratio (split responsibility between Supply Chain Manager, Procurement and Commercial Department)
Potential overstock has been identified and highlighted.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Team-work
- Results orientation
- Technical expertise to some degree
- Hands-on
Skills (Technical, Behavioural and other):
- High attention to detail, ability to spot errors and rectify timeously
- Excellent organizational skills
- Good interpersonal skills in dealing with 3rd party Distributors
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Skilled in MS Office packages (MS Navision (NAV); ERP)
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of freight transport industries, importing, exporting and forwarding and warehousing.
- In-depth knowledge of the consumer goods industry
- Solid understanding of logistics and inventory management software.
Education/ Qualification:
Preferred/Recommended: A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Logistics, Warehousing, Supply Chain or related qualification.
Experience:
Preferred/Recommended: New Graduate
AUTHORITY:
- Approval of staff timesheets, purchasing amounts (e.g. repairs, maintenance of machines or equipment) within the parameters set by Finance and Legal business units. May sign delivery notes.
