Job Description - NPI Quality Engineer

## What you\u2019ll do:\n\nThe NPI Quality Engineer is responsible for supporting all New Product Introduction (NPI) activities by ensuring that customer requirements, Eaton Quality Management System standards, and quality deliverables are fully met throughout the APQP/NPI cycle. The role focuses on preventive quality planning, risk identification, documentation accuracy, and cross\u2011functional coordination to secure a robust and defect\u2011free product launch. Reporting to the Quality Manager, the NPI Quality Engineer contributes directly to product and process readiness, quality performance during early\u2011life stages, and continuous improvement across the value stream. \n\n * Support and execute APQP deliverables for new products, ensuring full alignment with customer requirements, EQMS processes, and internal quality expectations.\n * Capture, define, and communicate customer requirements and critical\u2011to\u2011quality (CTQ) characteristics throughout the NPI cycle.\n * Lead or participate in preventive quality activities such as DFMEA, Process Flow, Control Plans, and design/process reviews to identify and mitigate risks early in the development process.\n * Prepare, review, and validate PPAP documentation, First Article Inspection (FAI) reports, and other required quality evidence for product release.\n * Monitor and analyze quality performance during prototype and pilot builds, initiating corrective and preventive actions as needed.\n * Maintain accuracy of quality documentation including PFMEA, Control Plans, Work Instructions, and quality records throughout the NPI lifecycle.\n * Participate in internal audits, process audits, and customer\u2011related reviews where applicable to NPI deliverables.\n * Lead or support problem-solving activities (e.g., 8D, A3) to address quality issues arising during the development and launch phases.\n * Collaborate closely with cross\u2011functional stakeholders such as R\u0026D, Manufacturing Engineering, Supplier Quality, Program Management, and Production to ensure seamless launch readiness.\n * Capture lessons learned, contribute to continuous improvement activities, and support the establishment of best practices for future product introductions.\n * Track and report NPI-related quality KPIs, including launch FPY, early-life defects, documentation completeness, and risk mitigation closure. \n\n\n\n## Qualifications:\n\n * Bachelor\u2019s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Materials, or Quality Engineering.\n * Minimum 5 years of experience in Quality Engineering, New Product Introduction (NPI), APQP processes, or manufacturing environments. \n \n\n\n\n\n## Skills:\n\n * Experience in Medium Voltage (MV) switchgear production or in a closely related field (e.g., electromechanical assembly, power distribution equipment, electrical systems manufacturing) is highly preferred.\"\n * Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, MSA, SPC, and core quality tools.\n * Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.\n * Understanding of problem-solving tools such as 8D, A3, and root cause analysis.\n * Familiarity with EQMS processes, design reviews, DFSS concepts, and quality documentation requirements.\n * Experience with FAT/FAI or customer audits is a plus.\n * Good command of English (written and spoken).\"\n * Strong communication and collaboration skills across cross\u2011functional teams.\n * Analytical thinking, attention to detail, and structured problem\u2011solving approach.\n * Proactive mindset with willingness to take ownership and drive improvement.\n * Ability to work in a dynamic environment with multiple stakeholders.\n * Good organizational skills and disciplined documentation habits.\n\n\n\n## What We Offer\n\n * Competitive compensation and benefits package\n * Challenging projects in dynamic collaborative team\n * We make your aspirations matter \u2013 Eaton encourages internal promotion, whenever possible\n * We make your growth matter - We invest in our employees for the long term \u2013 not just with salary and benefits, but with ongoing learning and development opportunities made available through Eaton University.\n * We make your contributions matter - reliability, safety, efficiency, and sustainability are at the core of our dedication to improving people\u2019s lives and the environment through power management technologies.\n * We make your wellbeing matter \u2013 We put your health and safety first.
