About the role  

As a Vessel Performance Specialist, you will be key in optimising vessel operations by leveraging data, technology, and technical expertise. You will be responsible for utilising data and creating value-driven reports and dashboards in Microsoft Power BI, maintaining data sources and semantic models, establishing standardisation, and improving the current structure to create the better user experience.

We are looking for a Data Analyst with a technical background, especially shipping and decarbonization experience together with technical knowledge of vessels.

This role is particularly well-suited for data analysts who have experience with Power BI and have worked with ship sensor data, also who have worked on a project combining Python and Power BI.

In addition to this, some of your key responsibilities would be:

• Developing and implementing data-driven performance monitoring solutions.
• Utilising machine learning and AI models to predict and enhance ship performance.
• Analysing ship sensor data to provide actionable insights for fuel efficiency and decarbonization.
• Creating interactive dashboards and reports using business intelligence tools(Power BI).
• Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to drive continuous improvement and standardisation across the fleet.
• Supporting regulatory and environmental compliance through data analytics and reporting.
• Maintain all dashboards & semantic models accordingly.
• Identify vessels with potential to improve performance and engage with them to highlight areas of improvement, provide relevant technical suggestions / best practices to improve performance and follow up with vessels till the performance is improved.
• Create ad hoc reports and data quality checks when needed to aid stakeholders.
• Keep up to data with regulatory changes and adjust calculations accordingly to meet the requirements.
• Proactively share knowledge with the team and the company at large for technical purposes.

This role is ideal for a technically skilled Data Analyst with preferably maritime experience who wants to create value in shipping by combining IT skills and new AI technologies with technical knowledge of shipping, decarbonization and performance management.

About you 

• Data Analyst with extensive Power BI and Python experience
• Technical expertise and strong interest in Energy Efficiency, Fuel-Saving Technologies, Alternative Fuels, Ship Sensor Data, Performance Monitoring, and Decarbonization.
• Experience or high interest in AI, machine learning, ship sensor data analysis, and data-driven decision-making.
• Experience with the DAX language model.
• Excellent command of spoken and written English (must-have).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced Excel skills (must-have).
• Proactive, results-oriented mindset, with the ability to work independently and take initiative.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical thinking, and data-driven decision-making skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Strong teamwork, communication, and collaboration skills to engage with diverse stakeholders.
• You will play an important role in the Vessel Performance Team as a technical expert, so you should be open-minded, actively challenge current processes productively, and support the team for continuous improvement
• You are ambitious for new technologies related to the shipping industry, decarbonization, fuel efficiency and operational excellence to contribute to DFDS for better Vessel Performance Management.
