Network Operations Center (NOC) Engineer

Job Purpose

To ensure the smooth operation and maintenance of the fixed network by handling optical and electrical circuit provision, cessations, re-routing, and addressing network failures. This role involves using various test equipment, performing installations, and supporting maintenance activities under the guidance of senior engineers.

This role involves using various test equipment, performing installations, and supporting maintenance activities under the guidance of senior engineers. Roles And Responsibilities

• Manage Fixed Network Operation & Maintenance activities, including optical/electrical circuit provision, cessations, re-routing, and handling network failures due to traffic and hardware issues.
• Perform major and non-routine tasks related to Core, Access, and Fiber Networks under the supervision and guidance of senior engineers.
• Utilize various test equipment to identify and rectify faults in the network.
• Install fiber optic equipment and ODF patch panels.
• Work with transmission and IP equipment, including Cisco routers, switches, SDH, DWDM, firewalls, and other related equipment.
• Address and resolve faults reported by NOCs related to the transmission and Fiber network using analyzers, light sources, and power metres.
• Conduct ODTR testing to locate FO cable faults and during cable outages.
• Support maintenance activities, including acceptance testing (ATP, ACL, etc.) of new FO cables and network nodes.

• Bachelor’s or Diploma Degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
• 7 years of relevant experience in network maintenance and operations.

• Ability to install and maintain fiber optic equipment and ODF patch panels.
• Strong skills in fault resolution and support for maintenance activities, including acceptance testing of new FO cables and network nodes.
