Shipping Assistant

Job Description

• Assisting in the preparation of outgoing shipments, including picking and packing items for delivery.
• Ensuring accurate and complete packaging of goods, including proper labeling and documentation.
• Coordinating with shipping carriers or couriers to arrange pickups and deliveries.
• Generating shipping labels, invoices, and other necessary documentation.
• Organizing and maintaining the shipping area to ensure efficient workflow.
• Tracking and monitoring the status of shipments to ensure timely delivery.
• Communicating with customers or internal departments regarding shipment status and tracking information.
• Assisting with inventory management tasks, such as cycle counts and stock replenishment.
• Handling incoming shipments, including receiving, inspecting, and recording items in the inventory management system.
• Notifying appropriate personnel of any discrepancies or issues with incoming shipments.
• Collaborating with the warehouse team to coordinate shipping and receiving activities.
• Following safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents or injuries in the shipping area.
• Participating in training programs or meetings to stay updated on procedures and policies.
• Providing general administrative support to the shipping department as needed.
• Maintaining cleanliness and organization in the shipping area.

Skills

• Previous experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse, or logistics roles preferred.
• Basic understanding of shipping and receiving procedures.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in packaging, labeling, and documentation.
• Good organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in using computers and basic software applications.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Physical stamina and the ability to lift and move moderately heavy items if required.
• Flexibility to work different shifts, including evenings, weekends, and overtime as needed.
• High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
