Job summary
The BIM (Building Information Modeling) manager for airport projects is responsible for overseeing and managing the implementation and utilization of BIM processes and technologies in the design, construction, and operation of airport facilities. This role requires collaboration with architects, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure that BIM standards and practices are effectively integrated into all phases of the project lifecycle.
Key responsibilities
BIM implementation and management:
- develop and implement BIM strategies and execution plans tailored to airport projects
- establish and enforce BIM standards, protocols, and workflows in alignment with industry best practices and project requirements
- manage the creation and maintenance of BIM models, ensuring accuracy and consistency across all disciplines
Collaboration and coordination:
- facilitate interdisciplinary coordination and collaboration through regular BIM coordination meetings
- ensure effective communication between project stakeholders, including architects, engineers, contractors and airport authorities
- resolve clashes and conflicts within the BIM models using clash detection and coordination tools
Training and support :
- provide training and support to project teams on BIM tools, processes, and standards
- mentor and guide team members to enhance their BIM capabilities and ensure adherence to established protocols
- stay updated with the latest BIM technologies and trends, and implement improvements as necessary
Quality assurance and control:
- conduct regular audits and reviews of BIM models to ensure quality and compliance with project requirements
- implement quality control procedures to validate the accuracy and completeness of BIM data
- manage the integration of BIM data with other project management and facility management systems
Documentation and reporting:
- maintain comprehensive documentation of BIM processes, standards and workflows
- generate regular reports on BIM progress, issues and resolutions for project stakeholders
- ensure that BIM deliverables meet contractual obligations and client expectations
Project management:
- assist in the planning and scheduling of BIM-related tasks and activities within the project timeline
- monitor and manage BIM-related risks and issues and develop mitigation strategies
- support project budgeting and resource allocation for BIM activities
Qualifications
Education:
- bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, construction management or a related field; a master’s degree is a plus
Experience:
- minimum of five to seven years’ experience in BIM management within the architecture, engineering or construction industry
- proven experience with large-scale infrastructure projects, preferably in the aviation sector
Technical skills:
- proficiency in BIM software such as Autodesk Revit, Navisworks and BIM 360
- strong understanding of BIM standards, protocols and best practices (e.g., ISO 19650, PAS 1192)
- experience with clash detection and coordination tools
Soft skills:
- excellent communication, leadership and teamwork skills
- strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
- ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment
Preferred certifications:
- professional certifications such as Autodesk Certified Professional, Certified BIM Manager or similar.
