RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Plant Automation Engineer is responsible to perform the below tasks and any other tasks deemed necessary:
- Perform site programming and troubleshooting in different PLC platforms, including siemens and ABB.
- Reviews process control narratives, P&IDs, cause and effect diagrams and other automation documents and ensure accurate implementation on site.
- Investigates, diagnoses, and recommends modifications required in PLC & SCADA logic sequences developed for UF/RO plant system or utilities to ensure that meets recommended operation specifications
- Advises on all matters pertaining to the Plant automation control system configured for UF/RO plant process or system operation to ensure the economical functioning of plant facilities.
- Responsible for creating safe working area by providing necessary interlocks on control system to protect equipment/system from potential hazardous source and to authorize work executor to start the maintenance/service of the equipment/system
- Responsible for new process sequence development including design, programming, simulation, testing, start-up and documentation
- Regular and periodic backup of historical data to ensure efficiency and reliability in emergency cases.
- Develop and understand the hardware drawings for PLC system, remote I/O panel wiring diagram and network drawings
- Work closely and effectively with client operators and O& M supervisors on executing the assigned or common tasks
- Writes comprehensive reports on process control operations as necessary to provide information as may be required by management
- Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality service.
- Monitoring of process parameters, online instruments and individual system performances through plant automation system and initiate necessary action
- Assist Operation team members on investigating & troubleshooting of the process disturbances, equipment malfunctioning and notify the concern department responsible in time for necessary actions.
- Strictly follow site EHS regulations, knowledge on hazardous chemicals, confined space activities, chemical spill control, LOTO procedure and with evacuation & emergency preparedness procedures
Skills
QUALIFICATION & REQUIREMENTS:
· Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation / Automation engineer or equivalent. Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements will be considered
· Work experience of minimum 5-8 years in plant automation and control system
· Experience with HMI/SCADA packages such as: iFix, GE Cimplicity, Iconics, Genesis, Rockwell RSView or Wonder ware. Hands on work experience in GE Fanuc Cimplicity,RTIP and Proficy Historian will be advantageous.
· Primary experience with Allen Bradley PLC, HMI & SCADA applications (RS Logix 500, RS Logix 5000, Factory Talk Machine Edition & Factory Talk Site Edition).
· Essential experience in IP address network architecture, unmanaged switches.
· Desirable experience in Emerson (ex GE Fanuc Proficy Machine Edition) & Siemens (Tia Portal).
· Experience with PLCs such as: Rockwell, GE Fanuc, Siemens, or Modicon.Hands on experience in GE Fanuc PAC Rx7i or Rx3i, Versamax controllers, remote I/O modules and programming experience in Proficy machine edition will be an added advantage.
· Experience with: Foundation Fieldbus, Device Net, or Profibus is a plus.
· Work experience in Hot redundant PLC/SCADA system and configuration of SST-VME scanner module
· Experience in Computer networking and knowledge on computer hardware & windows OS software configuration
· Experience in VB scripting, MS office and knowledge on SQL & MS Access
· Experience in UF/RO plant process & knowledge on Waste Water Treatment and Reclamation plant will be an added advantage
· Knowledge on plant safety and EHS
· Good communication skills in English. Arabic knowledge advantageous.
