Business Need / Purpose of Role

The Marine Surveyor reporting to the Marine Survey & Inspection Manager based out of Dubai, UAE shall primarily be responsible to attending Marine Surveys and assist in undertaking Marine / P&I / H&M and Cargo surveys, as well as bunker related jobs (BQS / OBQ / On- Off hire etc), operational planning / client concerns resolution resulting to financial development, growth advancement and client relationships. 

Objectives & Measurement – Key Responsibilities

• Carries out the prescribed services with respect to the work of the Agency of the Lloyds of London, corresponding with the Major Protection and Indemnity clubs and arranges/attends to independent cargo and marine survey assignments within the location. 

• Undertakes bunker related jobs (BQS / OBQ / On- Off hire etc) / operational planning / client concerns resolution. 
• Complete survey assignments (Marine, P&I, H&M and Cargo surveys), communicate professionally with clients and third parties, issue preliminary and final reports within the prescribed time period and set KPI’s. 
• Shall support/assist his Line Manager to oversee all services provided to the local and international markets but he/she also ensures that it supports the requirements of other company streams such as Ship agency, Ship Chandelling, Liner services etc, in terms of appointments received from their own principals. 
• Shall assist/support his Line Manager to ensure that all work is performed on an independent and impartial basis based on facts of each individual case dealt with. Further, he/she fosters and promotes a spirit of professional excellence, work accountability, teamwork and making certain that these are also priorities to cater to. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Competent user of the Microsoft Office suite including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
• Being able to communicate verbally/writing in a clear and concise manner.
• Balance multiple tasks, changing priorities & operate within a deadline-oriented environment.
• Good interpersonal relationship in managing people/sub-ordinates, planning, organizing. 
• Excellent attention to minute details.
• Self-driven, organized, good communication skills.
• Strong planning and coordination skills.
• Strong Problem Solving & Analytical Skills.

• Excellent Time Management Skills.

• Having a global perspective and possess a progressive thinking skill.

Education, Qualifications, Certifications, and Licenses

• Relevant experience of working within a survey / marine / shipping industry. 
• Graduate of Engineer ing , having a  marine qualification (CILA certification /  IBIA certification )would be desirable.
• Mariner – Deck or Engine officer would be an ideal consideration for this role.
• 3 years’ experience in a similar role would be desirable.
• Local Middle East Port knowledge. 
• Sailing experience as a deck or engine officer is a plus . 
• UAE valid driving license shall be desirable.
