Our Payments API provides customers with a seamless and secure way to transfer funds directly from their bank accounts — sidestepping prohibitively expensive credit and debit card networks.

About the role

We are looking for a product leader to scale Lean’s Data & Insights APIs. Data & Insights is the bread and butter of what we provide at Lean, enabling fintech and business in the MENA region to connect to their customer’s (and their own) bank accounts to get data such as their identity, held accounts, available balances and a full list of transactions.

In addition to the raw base data, Lean is developing a line of products to provide further enrichment at source, through processing, AI and ML techniques. Enabling businesses to build differentiating products faster, without needing to build an abundance of data before unlocking their next business idea. Together these products enable a myriad of use-cases from Personal Financial and Wealth Management, to lending and accounting applications.

In this role you will work with our clients, regulators, incumbents and team to improve our core Data APIs, create partnerships to unlock new data streams and discover and develop the algorithms that will unlock increased value from the data collected. You will build a long-term vision and strategy for the Data & Insights products and work to deliver against this vision.

You will work closely with teams across Lean, particularly Engineering, Commercial and Product Marketers as well as other Product Managers across the various verticals that Lean serves. The work that you do will have meaningful impact to thousands of people in the region who are interacting with fintechs, often for the first time, through a completely new methodology for the region. You will work closely with our clients to investigate and uncover the highest priority services that we can provide, before executing the solutions to meet the market need.

The ideal candidate will have experience leading a cross-functional team and will have led on highly technical products before. Understanding the nuances of API design and the impacts on the end consumer, as well as being able to optimise consumer journeys in collaboration with our design team. You will also be comfortable with and have experience of regularly communicating with commercial clients and partners, with an ability to transform complex subject matters into understandable communications.

What you'll do

Own the long term vision and strategy for the Data & Insights.

Own and manage the roadmap for Data & Insights products.

Be accountable for the decisions and delivery of products within Data & Insights.

Bring Design, Development, Business, Legal and Clients together to build requirements, and set acceptance criteria.

Investigate and find the right solutions for Lean to build.

Work closely with clients to understand their business needs and develop solutions for their problems.

Understand the market to uncover use-cases that are currently under or completely un-served.

Work with the business development and product marketing teams to commercialise the product(s) you build.

What You'll Need

Experience working with highly technical products.

A strong working knowledge of APIs. What they are, what they do and how the behaviours of them affect consumers.

Experience or deep knowledge of how businesses use financial data to make decisions and build products.

You will be able to demonstrate past delivery of products and projects from end-to-end leading cross-functional teams.

You will be effective at prioritising and understanding the impacts of resource allocation.

Experience in gathering, recording and maintaining a list of product requirements.

Ability to define metrics and KPIs for a product, and understand what success looks like.

Ability to define Acceptance Criteria and write product specifications that are accessible to all stakeholders.

Self-starting mindset - when you see a problem, you want to fix it.

A relentless attitude to improvement, and iteration to balance short term need with long term vision.

Ability to trade-off product requirements with timescales and priorities.

Bonus Experience

Particular industry experience in Lending, Financial Services, Fintech or Banking.

Experience working with AI & ML based products and the underlying algorithms would be a bonus.
