About the School:

The School of Engineering offers Bachelor in Engineering degree with majors in Civil, Computer & Autonomous Systems, Electrical & Electronics, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Telecommunications Engineering & IOT. Our Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) program with major in Electrical and Electronics, focuses on electrical and electronic devices and systems, computer technology, control systems and electrical power engineering.

The School of Engineering is seeking a qualified and motivated Instructor for Electrical (specifically for the majors in Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering and Autonomous Systems) to join in Sep 2024. The successful candidate will be involved in teaching/tutoring in the respective subjects, running and supervising laboratories, as well as, carrying out any governance or research duties as allocated by the Head of School.

Requirements & Responsibilities:

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience of teaching/tutoring Electrical and Electronics engineering topics to a wide range of students, supporting students is 'Design and Build' projects and have excellent skills in design of advanced electronic/electrical systems. The candidate is expected to work in adherence with the course curriculum and teaching/lesson plans. Candidates are expected to have an approach to teaching that is student-centred, with a focus on designing subjects that have multiple assessment approaches, formative and summative, and activity-based learning.

Core responsibilities

• Delivery of tutorial and laboratories in liaison with the respective Lecturers in accordance with the UOWD Teaching and Learning policies

• Offer consultation times to students outside of classroom hours

• Liaise with subject coordinator before, during and at the end of the semester session

• Complete grading of student work in a timely fashion, using clear rubrics, and with constructive feedback. Input the grades into the student interface software (SMP), and complete subject report for the end of semester (training will be provided)

• Support students on "Design and Build" projects

• Assist during Open days and other outreach activities related to teaching and learning

• Carry out governance and/or research activities as allocated by the Head of School

Qualifications & Experience:

• Essential

  • Master’s degree in Electrical/Electronic/Computer Engineering from an internationally recognised institute

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering

  • Previous experience in practical applications of electrical/electronic engineering laboratory techniques

  • Fluency in English (both verbal and written)

The University offers instructors at undergraduate level a compensation of AED 132,000 per annum. The University is located in Knowledge Village, Dubai and has excellent teaching, learning and research facilities as well as a Library that meets international standards.
