VP Trade Finance & Commercial Lending Solutions (69CPX1-14B359CB) Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Job Summary/Introduction

  • Our client is looking for a seasoned and experienced VP Trade Finance & Commercial Lending Solutions to lead the sales function and commercial growth globally.
  • As a key member of senior leadership team, the incumbent will play a pivotal role in driving the strategic growth, profitability, and market presence of our trade finance business on a global scale, while aligning with respective regional logistics teams on a single goal.
  • The successful candidate will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, both internally as well as other operation companies of the group to optimize revenue generation, risk management, and operational efficiency.
Description

P&L Management:

  • Drive a comprehensive business plan to achieve revenue and profitability targets while ensuring alignment with the overall corporate strategy.
  • Monitor and analyse financial performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing strategies to enhance the bottom line.
  • Ensure delivery against regional PnL
  • Drive cost optimization initiatives while maintaining a focus on delivering high-quality trade finance solutions to clients.
  • Propose and monitor budgets on a regular basis, translating into achievable sales targets with alignment across multiple regions.

Strategy and Growth:

  • Take active role in the development of the global trade finance strategy, considering market trends, competitive landscape, and customer needs.
  • Identify new opportunities in markets, product enhancements, and partnerships to expand the trade finance portfolio and drive revenue growth.
  • Collaborate with regional teams to tailor strategies for specific markets, ensuring a consistent global approach while accommodating local nuances.
  • Developing a quick pipeline and launch to scale plans for new markets expansion.

Global Team Management:

  • Lead and manage a diverse global team of trade finance professionals across different time zones.
  • Provide strong leadership, fostering a collaborative and performance-driven culture within the team.
  • Set clear performance expectations, provide ongoing coaching, and promote professional development opportunities for team members.
  • Coordinate and liaison with various regional teams for logistics as well as freight forwarding to identify business opportunities and seamlessly execute to yield incremental business
  • Deliver hiring and performance management for regional head of sales and trade finance specialists.
  • Identify common bottle-necks and impediments across regions and implement overarching resolutions in alignment with the central team.

Client Relationship Management:

  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key clients, understanding their evolving needs and aligning trade finance offerings accordingly.
  • Partner with the sales and relationship management teams to support client acquisition and retention efforts, participating in client meetings as needed.

Product Development and Innovation:

  • Work closely with the new initiatives & product development team to drive innovation and the creation of new trade finance products that address emerging market demands.
  • Leverage industry insights and customer feedback to refine existing products and enhance the overall value proposition.
  • Focus on Risk Management and Regulatory Compliance:
  • Collaborate with credit, legal, and compliance teams to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements set by the Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA) within the trade finance operations.
  • Be the first line of defence in mitigating risks

Internal and External Collaboration:

  • Liaise with credit, legal, operations, and compliance teams internally to ensure seamless execution of trade finance transactions and alignment with internal policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with other teams such as logistics and freight forwarding teams to facilitate the efficient movement of goods in accordance with trade finance agreements.

Reporting and Communication:

  • Regularly report on trade finance division performance, presenting insights and recommendations to the leadership team and the Senior Executive Officer.
  • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, ensuring a transparent flow of information and alignment on strategic priorities.

Other:

  • Responsible for the management and leadership of an engaged team, promoting collaboration and ensuring that each is developed and evaluated against goals and objectives which are aligned, specific, measurable, attainable yet challenging, realistic and time bound.
  • Act as an ambassador at all times when working; promoting and demonstrating positive behaviours in harmony with principles, values and culture; ensuring the highest level of safety is applied in all activities; understanding and following theCode of Conduct and Ethics policies

Required:

  • 12+ years of progressively responsible experience in Trade Finance/Commercial Lending industry
  • Experience in leadership position of leading sales/ business development in a financial services organization
  • Strong track record of P&L ownership, delivering growth, and team leadership
  • In-depth knowledge of international trade finance products, including but not limited to export and import financing, inventory finance, structured trade finance, supply chain finance, and related financial services as well as associated risks
  • Strong product knowledge and proven track record in structuring and executing complex trade finance solutions
  • Strong business and credit acumen and ability to analyze data to drive strategic decisions
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization and with clients.
  • In-Depth understanding of key credit and risk principals and utilizes the same in discussions with the credit and risk teams
  • Experience working closely with Credit, Risk, Operations, Compliance and Legal teams
  • Proven experience in developing and executing successful growth strategies in the financial services industry.
  • Experience managing global teams across time zones is a plus
  • Agile mindset: Embody attitudes supporting an agile working environment. These include respect, collaboration, improvement and learning cycles, pride in ownership, focus on delivering value, the ability to adapt to change and the drive for continuous improvement
