Working with the leadership team to provide a safe and secure environment in which the child can be safe, happy and learn. Attending in-house training including Child Protection, Pediatric First Aid and basic firefighting skill courses accredited by the ministries of the UAE. Ensuring the health, safety and wellbeing of children and staff is maintained during all activities, both inside and outside the nursery by overseeing all staff, encouraging professional practice at all times. Keeping up to date with changes in the standards and practice of UAE nurseries. To ensure absences are kept to the very bare minimum to avoid disruption to the children. Absences must be reported by 6am to Ms Laura, Nursery principal. To follow at all times the nursery guidelines for hygiene and lead others in high standards. To remain smartly dressed in accordance with the uniform policy with a high level of personal hygiene and presentation. Developing positive working partnerships with parents and children. This will involve building positive relationships with the families through face to face interactions. Upholding the three nursery visions in all interactions (see manual). Maintaining confidentiality and exercising outstanding professional practice. Sharing information with Nursery Principal in areas of concern for the well-being and safety of the children - working closely via radio in a collaborative fashion. To administer First Aid Treatment and liaise with the staff on infection control. Maintain school health records, including all accident and incident reports. Report to Nursery Principal daily with all records and checks at 4:45pm Display/update health notices and research new initiatives. Ensure up to date displays of positive cases and allergies are displayed in all classrooms Update children’s health information & ensure all staff are aware of children with allergies and/or dietary requirements. To liaise with management and the schools visiting pediatrician. To follow up on any medical concerns mentioned by staff in relation to children. To telephone the parents on medical matters To work as an assistant and provide cover in the classrooms if needed. However, we aim to avoid this. • To do daily rounds of each class and take a temperature check of all children – dealing with any concerns. • To attend to children as needed for medical concerns that arise throughout the day • To take and record the children’s weight monthly – ensuring records are accurate. • The nurse may administer prescribed medicines, providing it is not the first dose. The child’s name should be clearly marked on the medicine and the records completed and signed by the parent before administration. The nurse is not permitted to cut children's nails. The nurse is not to administer suppositories. The nurse must check and record the temperature of all fridges around the nursery twice a day. To ensure all broken toys or any potential dangers around the nursery are reported immediately. To oversee the health and safety folder and record book to ensure compliance. To complete daily and weekly safety checks around the nursery. It is the responsibility of the nurse to maintain and restock all medical supplies on the premises and ensure the clinic & isolation room is clean and tidy at all times. Replenish portable first aid kits for field trips – Head Nurse to ensure the supply is full and all medication is within its expiry date. Work with multi - agencies on inspections of the nursery premises. Update medical license and malpractice in accordance with online DOH requirements. Effective communication and teamwork in respect of inclusion and special needs. To continually take risk assessments of the interior and exterior of the premises, recording and share information with Reception and Leadership. Following up on missing immunization records and health forms from parents – regular checks to see if vaccinations are up to date. To provide cover on reception or classrooms if needed to support the team. Ensure duties are set for Saturday tasks and to follow up they are completed to standard.
