Job Description - Acoustic Engineer - UAE

Candidate shall be assigned to an integrated sustainability team for projects within the Middle East and Europe.

Alpin Limited is a multidisciplinary sustainable cleantech consultancy based in Masdar City, Abu Dhabi.


The local team is composed of a diverse range of experts who lead their respective fields, including LEED APs, PQPs, official Estidama trainers, commissioning authorities (CxA), construction managers, MBAs, and building physics PhDs. We also have commissioning authorities and consultants based in Munich, London, New York City, and other prominent global locations.

Our current projects include: The Abu Dhabi midfield Terminal Building, The Msheireb urban redevelopment project, Johnson Controls Research Center, SKMC Dialysis Center, Sowwah Square Abu Dhabi and several other high profile projects in the EU and GCC.

Reports Directly to:

Head of Sustainability and/or Senior Sustainability Consultant

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Undertake noise and vibration assessments, for example in buildings to make sure they meet building regulations, for planning applications and for environmental statements;
  • Carry out insulation detailing and testing;
  • Complete survey and acoustic modelling work with knowledge of how changes in design affect;
  • Undertake data analysis, prediction, assessment and reporting;
  • Liaise with clients and local authorities regarding their project requirements;
  • Prepare tenders and accurate quotations for projects;
  • Ensure projects are completed on time and to budget, liaising with clients and colleagues throughout at a senior level, appear in court as an expert witness;
  • Prepare and produce reports and recommendations;
  • Undertake project administration and management;
  • Use modelling software, which could include ODEON, SoundPLAN, INSUL, CadnaA, Casella, CATT-coustic, or any acoustic software;

  • In addition to your responsibility towards following ALPIN’s Integrated Management System, every employee at ALPIN is required to familiarize themselves with ALPIN’s Environmental Impact Assessment and contribute towards minimizing their individual environmental impact in the course of their work;
  • It is the duty of all employees to act within the legal responsibilities imposed upon them and the Company’s Quality, Environment and Health & Safety policies. All employees must familiarize themselves

Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related discipline (Environmental, Construction Management, Engineering or Architecture);
  • An aptitude for Math’s and Science;
  • Noise modelling skills, including familiarity with noise modelling software;
  • A logical and creative approach to problem solving;
  • Excellent written and verbal skills, including technical report writing skills;
  • The ability to collate and analyze data;
  • The confidence to liaise with clients and local authorities;
  • Excellent IT skills including proficiency in Excel and Word as well as computer simulations;
  • Project, resource and time management skills;
  • Commercial awareness;
  • Strong interpersonal skills;
  • Budgeting and negotiating skills;
  • Attention to detail
  • Knowledge of relevant codes of practice, policy and legislation
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with both clients and consultants;
  • Have background within the built environment sector (1- 2years);
  • Working Knowledge of MEP, Construction Management and Design;
  • Demonstrated project experience;
  • Knowledge of current sustainability standards: LEED, QSAS, or Estidama;
  • At least one of the accreditations: LEED GA or AP, Estidama, Green Star or BREEAM Accreditation;
  • Comprehensive written & spoken English;
  • GCC experience;
  • Excellent planning and organization skills required for our fast-paced environment;
  • Operate independently and under guidance;
  • Ability to self-manage;

Additional Experience/Certifications:

  • Hands-on engineering and project management skills (PMP);
  • Arabic language would be a plus (not required);
  • Master’s Degree is a plus (not required);
  • Local Driver’s license & personal mode of transportation;
  • Passportwhich allows for efficient regional travel.
