Description

Qualifications



  • E: PhD in Finance (Financial, Management and Cost Accounting). 

  • P: Master’s degree in Accounting and /or Finance. 

  • P: Professional accounting qualification (CPA, ACCA, CMA, CA etc.)

  • P: Recognized qualification for teaching in Higher Education

  • P: Membership of a recognized professional accounting body


Experience 


E: Experience teaching Financial, Management and Cost Accounting subjects at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level, including Accounting Principles, Financial Reporting, the Accounting Cycle, Financial Statement Preparation, Accounting Information Systems, and Microsoft Excel. 


 


P: Experience applying accounting principles in the maritime, logistics, shipping, transportation, or supply chain sectors. 


P: Industry experience in accounting, auditing, finance, or related sectors. 


P: Evidence of research publications and scholarly activities. 


P: Experience in curriculum development, quality assurance, and accreditation. 


P: Familiarity with UAE CAA standards, learning management systems (LMS), online assessment, and academic integrity tools. 


 


Knowledge



  • The successful candidate should demonstrate knowledge of:

  • Financial, Management and Cost Accounting and IFRS 

  • Accounting Cycle and Financial Statement Preparation 

  • Cash Book, Journal Entries, Ledgers, Trial Balance, Profit & Loss Account, and Balance sheet. 

  • Inventory and Cost Accounting 

  • Maritime and Logistics Accounting Applications 

  • Microsoft Excel and Digital Accounting Systems


 


Key Responsibilities



  • Assist the Head of Maritime Logistics & Supply Chain Program in achieving the Academy’s strategic priorities.

  • Teach Financial, Management and Cost Accounting related accounting courses within Maritime Logistics and Supply Chain programmes. 

  • Use appropriate, innovative and effective pedagogic approach in the classroom. Deliver lectures and lead seminar groups as appropriate.

  • Participate in the examination/ assessment process including the setting of papers, preparing marking schemes, agreeing marks with other staff. Use appropriate and innovative forms of assessment practices to enhance learning and teaching.

  • Responsible for updating own discipline knowledge to develop research informed teaching. Bring latest research-based knowledge in the classroom.

  • Ensure full compliance with the requirements of the timetable and the annual academic calendar.

  • Conduct research for career development, aligning with the Academy’s ambition to be research-active institution.

  • Provide timely, constructive, formative and comprehensive feedback to students using all forms of communication.

  • Deliver courses in other departments as required by the Line Manager.

  • Contribute to program and institutional quality assurance, academic advising, and committee work.

  • Be willing to work occasionally outside of standard working hours as in the contract.
