Adjunct/Part -time lecturer in Criminology

Job Purpose

To conduct and contribute to learning, teaching, and knowledge transfer to the benefit of students, the School, the University and the wider community.

Main responsibilities

Learning and teaching

• Deliver high quality teaching to students at undergraduate level
  


• Identify best and innovative practices in learning and teaching and build them into personal teaching practice
  


• Ensure that personal research, knowledge and/or experience of the field inform personal teaching practice
  


• Contribute actively to initiatives which identify new and best practice in teaching and learning and promote them across the faculty and institution
  


• Enhance student experience and outcomes
  


• Provide academic advice and counselling
  


• Liaise closely with teaching, technical, and administrative staff as appropriate to ensure a quality teaching and learning environment.
  

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential Requirements:

• Minimum education: Master’s degree in Criminology or related discipline
  


• Ability to teach Criminology in Practice subjects: Applicants should be familiar with areas of employment that can be considered for criminology career pathways in different regions.
  


• Excellent academic qualifications in the areas of criminology, crime control, offending and support services, crime statistics, or any other field demonstrating exposure to and knowledge of the aforementioned subjects.
  


• Industry experience with criminology-related professions and institutions including policing, prisons, probation, youth offending, social welfare, victim and advisory services, regulatory and investigation services, international non-governmental organisations
  


• Evidence of competence in the fields mentioned above through teaching and/or practice
  


• High level of written, oral, and interpersonal skills
  

Desirable requirements:

• Publication record supporting competence in any of the above-mentioned fields.
  


• Record of industry relations, knowledge exchange, and partnerships/collaborations that can support teaching on the module
