Allergy & Immunology / Tropical & Infectious Diseases - Abu Dhabi

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Consultant Physician specializing in Allergy & Immunology to join our clinical team in Abu Dhabi.

The successful candidate will provide comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis and management of allergic and immunological disorders across adult patients, working collaboratively with other medical specialties.

Important Licensing Requirement: The candidate must hold, or be eligible to obtain, a Department of Health (DoH) Abu Dhabi Consultant license in Allergy & Immunology / Allergy. A license limited to Infectious Diseases or Tropical Medicine will not meet the requirement for this position.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide consultant-level assessment and management of patients with allergic and immunological disorders.
• Diagnose and manage:
  • Allergic rhinitis and conjunctivitis
  • Asthma and allergic respiratory disease
  • Food allergies and drug allergies
  • Urticaria and angioedema
  • Atopic dermatitis and other allergic skin disorders
  • Anaphylaxis and severe allergic reactions
  • Contact and environmental allergies
  • Primary and secondary immunodeficiency disorders
  • Autoimmune and immune-mediated conditions where appropriate
• Perform and interpret allergy investigations within clinical privileges, including skin-prick testing, specific IgE testing and other relevant diagnostic assessments.
• Develop individualized treatment and long-term management plans.
• Provide appropriate allergen avoidance, pharmacological and immunotherapy recommendations.
• Manage complex and refractory allergic disorders.
• Coordinate care with Pulmonology, Dermatology, ENT, Rheumatology, Pediatrics and other relevant specialties.
• Provide patient and family education regarding allergy prevention and emergency management.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, clinical audits and quality improvement initiatives.
• Contribute to development of Allergy & Immunology clinical pathways and protocols.
• Participate in teaching, training and supervision of residents and junior physicians.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and comply with hospital policies and UAE healthcare regulations.

Qualifications

• Medical degree from a recognized medical school.
• Completed recognized postgraduate training in Allergy & Immunology or a relevant medical specialty.
• Recognized Board Certification/Specialist or Consultant qualification in Allergy & Immunology.
• Fellowship or advanced formal training in Allergy & Immunology is highly desirable.
• Valid DoH Abu Dhabi Consultant license/eligibility specifically in Allergy & Immunology / Allergy.
• Candidates licensed only as Infectious Disease / Tropical Medicine Consultants are not suitable for this role.

Required Experience

• Significant post-specialist experience in Allergy & Immunology.
• Demonstrated experience managing complex allergic and immunological conditions.
• Experience with allergy diagnostic testing and interpretation.
• Experience managing severe allergic reactions and anaphylaxis.
• Experience in a tertiary-care or multidisciplinary hospital environment is preferred.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in allergen immunotherapy.
• Experience managing drug and food allergies.
• Experience with immunodeficiency disorders.
• Experience with biologic therapies for allergic disease.
• Academic, research, teaching or service-development experience is an advantage.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a DoH Abu Dhabi–licensed/eligible Consultant in Allergy & Immunology (Allergy) with dedicated specialist training and substantial experience managing allergic and immunological disorders.

Licensing Note: Allergy & Immunology license required — Infectious Diseases/Tropical Medicine license alone is not acceptable.
