JOB SUMMARY / INTRODUCTION
The Group Fraud Risk & Investigations function is part of the group's Risk Management function and provides second line Fraud Risk oversight for the firm's front office and support/control functions.
The purpose of the role is to ensure that the Bank's Products, Policies, Processes, RCSA's and new initiatives are subject to ad hoc, periodic, and ongoing fraud risk assessments and reviews. The incumbent will also be engaged in conducting the reviews of processes of high-risk business so that all associated fraud risks is adequately mitigated. The incumbent is further responsible conducting vigilance activity comprising reviews of loans and cards to identify potential frauds.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Assist in the implementation of bank-wide fraud assessment & mitigation strategies covering the bank's key products/channels/segments to provide specific and tailored approaches to managing individual and unique fraud risks.
    • Assist in talent development initiatives for the assigned department, collaborating with technical/discipline experts and thereby ensure the availability of talent to fit business requirements.
    • Act as a role model and drive adherence to organizational values and ethics by employees of the assigned department to foster a value-driven culture within the bank.
    • Ensure effective review of functional policies, procedures and controls covering all areas of the function so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service.
    • Assist in process of the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement and sustainability of systems, processes and practices considering global standards, productivity improvement and cost reduction.
    • Ensure that all unit reports are prepared timely and accurately and meet FAB requirements, policies, and quality standards.
    • Engage in review of all amendments to group-wide, high-risk, standard operating procedures.
    • Engage business to conduct walkthroughs on new initiatives in order to understand business process and customer journeys with the aim of identifying fraud risk.
    • Ensure that SME's from the Investigations, Technology and Strategy verticals are consulted to obtain input to risk assessments.
    • Conduct review of group-wide, Risk and Control Self Assessments for business units subjected to elevated levels of fraud risk.
    • Work closely with Line Manager to ensure that all fraud risks have been identified and adequately mitigated, or else risk-accepted by the business.
    • Conduct vigilance sampling reviews on customer applications for credit and other Bank products to pinpoint fraud controls, policy deviations and potential fraud.
    • Assist line manager to act as GFRI SPOC to actively participate and conclude key BRD's and UAT testing as and when required.
    • Ensure that Business adopt control recommendations made by business alternatively that the risk in question is accepted by the appropriate risk committee.
    • Conduct and conclude timely review of Dynamic Risk Profile report to ensure key findings are shared with Key Risk function stakeholders.
    • Act as GFRI SPOC and engage with Digital teams to ensure effective checks and controls are implemented in key digital journeys.
    • Ensure that detailed MI and evidence of Vigilance activities is maintained.
    • Support & collaborate with other GFRI activities as/when require.
REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS
    • Bachelor's degree in business, Finance, Law, or a related discipline.
    • 5 years' relevant experience in the banking sector.
    • In depth understanding of bank products, channels and services.
    • In depth understanding of fraud risk in the banking sector.
    • Excellent administrative skills.
    • Strong communication and presentation skills.
Preferred / Beneficial
    • Relevant industry certifications e.g., CFE, CFA, FRM, CAMS etc. is preferred.
