• TheStaff RN is responsible for implementing, directing, communicatingand documenting the nursing process and provides a safe environmentfor patients, visitors andassociates.
  
• Thenurse practices in accordance with current established standards ofcare, the Nurse Practice Act, the Community Healthcare Systempolicies and procedures, and supports the mission and philosophy ofCHS.
  
• Scopeof Care: The IMCU West unit is a 32 bed multidisciplinary 24 hourunit located on the third floor of the Park view Tower in thehospital.
  
• Patientsover the age of twelve years may be admitted to this unit, but theaverage age is 67 years.
  
• Thehighest volume of patients has a medical diagnosis, but surgicalpatients are also admitted.
  
• Themost frequent diagnoses of include: angina, R/O or Post MI, cardiacdysrhythmia, CAD, COPD, CHF, pre-post PTCA, post stent, generalsurgical patients requiring cardiac monitoring/observation post-op,diabetes, CVA, and peripheral vasculardiseases.

• Ourwork week begins on Saturday at 11p ends on Saturday 3-11(including 3-11 shift) On some units an EKG test and Med Test willberequired.
  
• EKGChallenge and Adult medication exam,traveller will allow 2 hours tocomplete we are told it is quitedifficult.
  
• Travelerneeds to be prepared to analyse rhythm strips,how to treat them andidentify all other cardiac rhythms,some common and others not socommon.

Requirements

• Graduateof an accredited school of nursing.
  
• Currentprofessional licensure by the State of Indiana Health ProfessionsBureau.
  
• BSNdesirable. Successful completion of The Community HealthcareSystems Personnel and Nursing Orientation Programs. Obtains andmaintains current certification in ACLS, CPR AND NIHHS STROKECERTIFICATION.
  
• NOBLOCK SCHEDULING AND LIMIT OF 5 TOTAL DAYS OF RTO WITH EACH 13 WEEKCONTRACT.
  
• SUCCESSFULCOMPLETION OF TESTING ON DAY ONE TO FACILITY IN MEDICATION EXAM,EKGCHALLENGE AND NOVASTAT GLUCOMETER,STUDY GUIDES WILL BE PROVIDED BYAGENCY.
  
• IFTESTING NOT PASSED ON DAY TWO AFTER A ONETIME REMEDIATION OFFERWILL BERESCINED.
