The Chiropodist is responsible for diagnosing and treating foot and lower limb conditions to improve patient mobility, relieve pain, and prevent complications. This role involves clinical assessment, treatment planning, minor surgical procedures, and patient education within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Conduct thorough assessments of foot, ankle, and lower limb conditions.
Diagnose ailments such as corns, bunions, ingrown toenails, heel spurs, and diabetic foot complications.
Perform minor surgical procedures including nail and skin surgery under local anesthesia.
Design and prescribe orthotics, insoles, footwear, and other corrective devices.
Provide wound care and preventive strategies, especially for patients with chronic diseases like diabetes.
Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations.
Educate patients on proper foot care and hygiene to prevent injury and infection.
Collaborate with other healthcare professionals such as physicians, physiotherapists, and nurses.
Participate in community outreach and health promotion programs.
Keep abreast of developments in podiatric medicine through continued professional development.
Bachelors or Master's degree in Podiatric Medicine or Chiropody.
Licensure/registration with the relevant regulatory body in the practicing country.
Proven clinical experience in chiropody or podiatry (2+ years preferred).
Certification in foot and ankle care, wound management, or diabetic foot care is an asset.
Strong diagnostic and clinical skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Manual dexterity for precise surgical procedures.
Compassionate, patient-centered care approach.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Good organizational and record-keeping abilities.
