Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and highly qualified Consultant in Pediatric Hematology, Oncology, Stem Cell Transplantation & Cellular Therapy to join our specialized pediatric oncology service in Jeddah.

The successful candidate will provide comprehensive, evidence-based care to infants, children, and adolescents with hematological and oncological disorders, including complex malignancies, bone marrow failure syndromes, immunodeficiencies, and patients requiring hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) and advanced cellular therapies.

The Consultant will contribute to multidisciplinary patient management, clinical service development, teaching, research, and quality improvement while maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and professional practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert consultation, diagnosis, and management of pediatric hematology and oncology patients.
  • Manage children and adolescents with:
    • Acute and chronic leukemias
    • Lymphomas
    • Brain and solid tumors
    • Bone marrow failure syndromes
    • Hemoglobinopathies and other inherited blood disorders
    • Bleeding and coagulation disorders
    • Immunodeficiency and immune dysregulation disorders
    • Other complex hematological conditions
  • Provide comprehensive care for patients undergoing autologous and allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.
  • Participate in donor evaluation, conditioning, transplantation, engraftment monitoring, and post-transplant follow-up.
  • Diagnose and manage post-transplant complications, including graft-versus-host disease, infections, graft failure, and immune complications.
  • Contribute to the assessment and delivery of cellular and advanced therapies, including CAR-T therapy where applicable.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards, transplant meetings, and complex case conferences.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans in accordance with international clinical guidelines and institutional protocols.
  • Coordinate care with pediatric surgeons, radiation oncologists, pathologists, radiologists, infectious disease specialists, intensive care teams, and other relevant specialties.
  • Provide inpatient and outpatient consultations and participate in on-call/urgent clinical services as required.
  • Ensure appropriate communication with patients and families regarding diagnosis, prognosis, treatment options, risks, and expected outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive medical documentation.
  • Participate in departmental quality improvement, patient safety, clinical governance, and accreditation activities.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical pathways, protocols, and transplant/cellular therapy programs.
  • Participate in teaching and supervision of fellows, residents, medical students, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Support clinical research, publications, presentations, and institutional academic activities.

Qualifications

  • Medical degree (MD, MBBS, or equivalent) from a recognized medical school.
  • Recognized postgraduate qualification in Pediatrics.
  • Fellowship/subspecialty training and board certification in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology.
  • Additional recognized training or substantial experience in Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation and Cellular Therapy is highly desirable.
  • Appropriate professional registration and eligibility for licensure in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
  • Current certification in relevant life-support programs, as required by the institution.

Professional Experience

  • Significant post-specialty experience as a Consultant in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex pediatric hematology and oncology cases.
  • Strong clinical experience in hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.
  • Experience with allogeneic and autologous transplant programs is preferred.
  • Experience in cellular therapy, including CAR-T or other advanced cellular therapies, is highly desirable.
  • Experience in multidisciplinary pediatric oncology and transplant services.
  • Academic, research, teaching, or program-development experience is an advantage.

Preference may be given to candidates with:

  • Experience in a high-volume pediatric hematology/oncology and HSCT center.
  • Experience with unrelated, haploidentical, or cord blood transplantation.
  • Experience with CAR-T therapy and other cellular therapies.
  • Experience in pediatric immunotherapy and targeted therapies.
  • Experience developing or expanding HSCT/cellular therapy services.
  • Peer-reviewed publications, clinical research, or academic teaching experience.
  • International fellowship or board certification from a recognized pediatric hematology/oncology program.
