Job Overview:

The Consultant Pediatric Inherited Metabolic Medicine will be responsible for providing specialized care and treatment to children with various inherited metabolic disorders. This individual will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to diagnose and manage complex cases, as well as educate and support patients and their families on disease management.

Key Responsibilities:

- Conduct thorough patient assessments and diagnostic tests to identify and confirm inherited metabolic disorders in pediatric patients

- Develop individualized treatment plans for patients with inherited metabolic disorders, considering their medical history, genetic makeup, and current symptoms

- Monitor patients' progress and adjust treatment plans accordingly to ensure optimal outcomes

- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare providers to provide comprehensive care to patients, including nutritionists, geneticists, and pediatric pharmacists

- Educate and counsel patients and their families on the nature of their disorder, treatment options, and lifestyle modifications

- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and researchers to stay updated on the latest advancements in the field of inherited metabolic disorders

- Participate in medical conferences and symposiums to share expertise and knowledge with peers and contribute to the advancement of the field

- Act as a resource for other healthcare professionals and trainee doctors, providing guidance and mentorship in the management of inherited metabolic disorders

- Comply with all hospital policies and follow best practices to ensure the highest quality of care for patients

- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care activities and treatment plans

Requirements:

- Medical degree from an accredited university

- Completed specialized training and certification in Pediatric Inherited Metabolic Medicine

- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the diagnosis and management of inherited metabolic disorders in pediatric patients

- In-depth knowledge of various inherited metabolic disorders, their diagnostic methods, and treatment options

- Strong understanding of genetics, biochemistry, and nutrition as they relate to inherited metabolic disorders

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients and their families, as well as healthcare team members

- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities to diagnose and manage complex cases

- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team and collaborate with other healthcare professionals

- Proven record of staying updated on the latest advancements and research in the field of inherited metabolic disorders

- Willingness to participate in continuing education and training programs as required by the hospital and regulatory authorities

- Fluency in English; additional language skills are a plus

- The candidate must have received Western training or education.

Working Conditions:

This position will be based in Dubai, UAE, and will require the Consultant Pediatric Inherited Metabolic Medicine to work in a hospital setting. The candidate must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends and on-call duties, as needed.
