A hospital in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates is expanding its Pediatric Surgery and Neo
natal Surgical Services and is seeking a highly skilled Consultant
/ Specialist Pediatric Surgeon to join its specialized children’s healthcare team. This role focuse
s on delivering complex surgical care for infants, children, and adolescents, within a modern
pediatric environment supported by neonatal ICU (NICU), pediatric ICU
(PICU), and advanced surgical infrastructure.
The hospital offers a comprehensive pediatric care model, integrating neonatology, pediatric in
tensive care, anesthesiology, and subspecialty services to manage a wide spectrum of congenital
and acquired conditions requiring surgical intervention.
Role Overview
• Position: Consultant / Specialist Pediatric Surgeon
• Location: Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
• Healthcare Setting: Tertiary-
care hospital with dedicated pediatric and neonatal surgical services
• Experience Required: Minimum 3+ years post specialist
• Practice Model: Outpatient consultations, elective and emergency pediatric surgeries, and inpa
tient care
The successful candidate will be responsible for the surgical management of pediatric and neo
natal conditions, ensuring high standards of safety, precision, and patient-centered care.
Key Responsibilities – Pediatric Surgery
• Diagnose and manage surgical conditions in infants, children, and adolescents, including co
ngenital and acquired disorders
• Perform pediatric surgical procedures, including neonatal surgeries, abdominal surgeries, soft
tissue procedures, and minimally invasive surgeries
• Manage congenital anomalies, such as gastrointestinal malformations, hernias, and urogenital
abnormalities
• Provide surgical care for pediatric trauma and emergency surgical conditions
• Perform laparoscopic and minimally invasive pediatric procedures where appropriate
• Collaborate with neonatologists, pediatricians, anesthesiologists, and intensive care teams f
or comprehensive perioperative care
• Conduct pre-operative evaluation and post-operative management for pediatric patients
• Manage patients in NICU and PICU settings, ensuring coordinated multidisciplinary care
• Provide counselling and communication with parents and caregivers regarding diagnosis, s
urgical plans, and outcomes
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and surgical records in compliance with regulator
y standards
• Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions, clinical audits, and quality improvement i
nitiatives
• Ensure adherence to international pediatric surgical guidelines and UAE healthcare regula
tions
Qualifications & Board Recognition
Applications are welcome from surgeons holding recognised specialist qualifications such as:
• American Board of Surgery with Pediatric Surgery Fellowship
• UK CCT / FRCS (Pediatric Surgery)
• Royal College Certification (Canada)
• Australian Fellowship (FRACS – Pediatric Surgery)
• Arab Board in Pediatric Surgery
• MCh / DNB / FCPS Pediatric Surgery or equivalent recognised specialist qualification
Candidates must meet eligibility requirements for DOH / DHA
/ MOH licensing. Licensing guidance and support will be provided where applicable.
